SPECIAL THANKS TO ICTINIKE for preparing this document

This is an informational post geared toward new and old players alike who may have not been instructed nor taught how to create your Ventrilo settings for what we call "PvP Command Channel"

This PvP Command Channel is how we in Andruk, as well the surrounding assets the alliance partners own, to quickly notify everyone within the alliance vent of possible hostiles incoming to various cities as well helping coordinate some of the intra-clan events.

Below is a guided path of how to set this feature up, as well remove it, and is one of the prerequisites for being within the alliance and KGB. If geared up in city or out roaming the near lands of the alliance assets it's *highly* recommend you have your PvP Command channel setup and enabled so you can hear of incoming hostiles as well report your own encounters to both better your survivability around alliance lands and report your own encounters you wish to receive help with.

The first thing you need to do is enable what's called a Ventrilo "Phantom". This "Phantom" allows you to insert a hook into Ventrilo that will allow you to hear the conversations and battle reports of anyone transmitting on the PvP Command channel regardless of the channel your in.

Simply navigate to the "PvP Command NA" channel in our alliance vent and right click the channel name as seen in figure 1 below. Choose the `Add/Remove Phantom` menu item and the phantom will be created.

figure 1

Now that you have the phantom created you will now see YOUR name listed under the PvP Command NA channel with the "P" predicate. "P" standing for Phantom, which will allow you to now hear anyone transmitting on the channel as in figure 2.

To remove this phantom, as sometimes it does become a bit noisy if you are away from alliance assets or not attending events, you simple repeat this procedure and it will Remove any Added phantom to the channel.

Adding this phantom now only allows you to HEAR whats being transmitted however it's recommended you setup an alternate key-binding in Ventrilo to also transmit on this channel so you as well can report if needed.

To do so you must endure a multi-step operation which I detail below. First click the "Ellipse" or button with arrow next to the `Bindings` drop-down in Ventrilo as seen in figure 3.

figure 3

Within the Bindings window click the `New` Button as seen in figure 4a.

figure 4a

Next give the binding a name, possibly "PvP Command", in figure 4b

figure 4b

Click the `Add` button

You are now presented with various options. Choose the `PTT Advanced` or "Push To Talk Advanced" and at the bottom where specified `Hot Key` place your cursor and click, type, hold whatever additional hot key you wish to transmit with as seen in figure 5.

Beware however that this cannot be your normal Push to Talk binding for regular channels so choose wisely as use of PvP Command for anything but calling out incidents and hostiles is frowned upon. Most everyone does transmit mistakenly at times so just ensure your binding is something you can access readily however not your normal talk key.

figure 5

Once you have the hot-key chosen simply hit the `OK` button and you will be shown the dialog options needed to configure this advanced feature. As seen below in figure 6 you now must choose the options of transmission once you hit this hot-key binding.

Within the `Edit PTT Advanced` dialog box please choose the `Channel by Name` option and press the ellipse button next to the `Channel name(s)` entry as seen in figure 6.

figure 6

Lastly you must choose the appropriate channel, when transmitting, to talk upon. As seen below scroll through all of the available channels within the server and find the `PvP Command NA` channel. Select this channel and hit the `Add` button to move this select to the left hand pane. Now simply click the `OK` button to save as seen in figure 7.

figure 7

Now that the binding is created please hit any `OK` buttons to save all the changes and come back to the main Ventrilo window. From here you now must choose the binding we just created so it can be used.

Drop the `Bindings` drop-down box at the top again and you will now see your new binding that you named earlier and select it as seen in figure 8. Click anywhere else on the window or back in game to save the choice and you should now be able to use the alternate bind key setup to transmit to PvP Command channel.

figure 8

When using said channel try to properly announce your call by stating `PvP Command.. We have 4 hostiles west of Andruk..` or `PvP Command.. 2 Desperate Housewives north of Andruk near the Naelid spawn..`. Try to call out both numbers and clan tags if possible and a general location and direction.

Calling such as `2 reds near Andruk` is both bad and in poor form. Not only do we not know who the reds are but we don't know where you or they are. Please be descriptive but keep chatter to a simple minimum call out; no extended use of PvP Command.

This now concludes our guide on how to setup PvP Command Phantom as well an alternate binding to transmit on the channel as needed.

Thanks!
