No real news to the gaming world, but someone deemed it
necessary to point out the obvious.

Conan is dying ! *chuckle*

From the article:

Funcom is still having problems with Age of Conan Hyborian
Adventures. It now appears that Age of Conan Hyborian
Adventures and Funcom are both dying a slow death.

The slide continues and Funcom reported a 4th quarter loss
of $23.3 million. Subscriber levels for Age of Conan are now
estimated to be below one hundred thousand. This is acording
to DnB NOR Markets.

In light of this poor performance Funcom cheif financial
officer Olav Sandnes has resigned. This is a huge change from
the 3rd best selling PC game in 2008 and up to seven hundred
thousand in paid monthly subscribers. Subscriptions took a
nose dive as the Funcom Age of Conan made mistake after
mistake. The server merge reduced the number of servers from
forty nine to eighteen and co-founder Guate Godager also had
resigned.

It was a diamond in the rough..It should never have been released from BETA when it did..The changes came too little too late..PvP in it was some of the best I have ever experienced but the PvP patch killed that as well with the exploitation that came from it..The rollbacks and gear deletion was the final straw for me..I met some great people in that game..Its just a shame it turned out like it did..

They should've released the game when they had their pvp in. I enjoyed the game, it was fun, but then fun ran out and that was it LOL

A game i'll always have fond memories of, especially hunting Jet

I am Wrath, I am Steel, I am the Mercy of Angels.
mors est merces mea – death is my reward
morte in vitam non habet tenaci - Death has no grip on Life.

The game itself had a ton of potential.

There was just horrible managmeent from the development team from launch up until what appears to be the end.

One of the sadest examples was the fact that they couldn't even seal unfinished raid areas off. The exploit was posted all over the forums and management would just come in and say, "don't discuss exploits on the boards", rather then fix it.

I agree with this and Valen's/Elph's assessments. The melee directional swings offered more variety than DF's, and the combo system was a great step forward. A real pity that
they catered to the whiners over the backbone of the community - the Conan fans/PVPers. I guess you reap what you sow.
