how do you determine what ratio is better ie. 1200/1 or 7000/1. Im lookin at a 32" lcd tv and was wonder how they measured contrast ratio's. Higher or lower number???

Higher the ratio = darker the black.

If you want those deep colors, you need a very high contrast ratio to do it with. Otherwise you get a ' well it's pretty close to being black ' black
