When I first looked at WoW, I thought it was very cartoonish, but once I started playing, that became secondary, and I didn't notice it for the most part after a very short while. Unfortunately, the game play didn't hold up for the long run.

The game play is the thing. I think of UO, with didn't use a 3d perspective at all, but still, there were fights that where absolutely absorbing. If the game play and interface are there, the graphics would be secondary.

Shadowbane never did it for me. The interface was clunky, and although the city sieges were entertaining, the straight PvP was lacking for me.

I'm hoping DF has the PvP aspects of UO and the conquest parts of SB, and a user interface that doesn't drive me up the wall.

That is my hope. We'll see what they deliver.

Whether or not DF actually delivers with its promises of being the ultimate game for people who want a UO/Shadowbane hybrid wont stop us from having fun playing it for atleast 4 months... naval combat isn't something I've even gotten to do in an MMO so that alone will keep my attention for awhile.
