I thought there would be a big announcement for the last day. Seemed like they were building up to something and they said there would be something special coming?

there was the release of X amount of discounted start packs but they where not that cheap and they did not include SQ42 access

something like $40 instead of $45 not like the first one that was $20 and included SQ42

Ah gotcha!

Yup - they did finally make the cut over in January to remove SQ42 from the "base" packs.

It does kind of suck for "new" folks coming into the game right now; but for the people who purchased "early" it does make sense at a certain point to give them an actual benefit for supporting the game(s) early.

Fits perfectly with SQ42 going live in 2017 and the final live version of the PU not being until very late 2017 at the earliest. That gives CIG a solid 6 months or more to parse out DLC for SQ42 to keep people playing and learning while creating a new revenue stream while they finish off the PU.
