Quote:
Something revealing happened over the weekend on Fox News Sunday. Dick Cheney had stopped by to bash President Barack Obama’s nuclear deal and promote his new book (co-authored with his daughter Liz). But moderator Chris Wallace, to his credit, wanted to ask Cheney about his own failings on Iran. On the Bush administration’s watch, Wallace noted, Iran’s centrifuges for enriching uranium “went from zero to 5,000.” Cheney protested, declaring that, “That happened on Obama’s watch and not on our watch.” But Wallace held his ground. “No, no, no,” he insisted. “By 2009, they were at 5,000.” Cheney paused for an instant, muttered, “right,” and went back to his talking points.

The exchange illustrated why the former vice president is such an effective purveyor of untruths. Even when caught in a falsehood, he displays no discomfort. Unlike Rick Perry, he never ever says “oops.”

Seriously, how can anyone outside of AIPAC even take this guy seriously on anything.

Personally, I have a hard time understanding how the war drums can keep beating for Iran at all. When was the last time they, or even their proxies actually took action against us? Its been 30 years.

Yeah they are bad people, but no worse than the Saudis or Qataris we are in bed with. Certainly not worse than the ISIS we armed and (along with... and via the Sauds and Qataris) funded as a means to overthrow an Iranian ally in Syria and look what that got us.

The Iranian obsession needs to end, its pointless and counterproductive.

Cheney is a scary dude and generally got his way when he was at the top. He seems like one of those guys who would personally strangle you on the way to the car if you went against him in a meeting.

When I read Bush's book I got the sense that Cheney effectively bullied him and his administration into doing a lot of things they were uncomfortable with. Take Scooter Libby for example.... They had several heated exchanges over the issue before Cheney flat out accused Bush of leaving a man behind on the battle field. Bush spoke of that situation like Cheney was his high school principal and he was in trouble for going against him.

You see a lot of that same behavior from him during the rapid escalation of the NSA's abilities and scope shortly after 9/11. They went from an honorable law abiding government agency that had been around since Pearl Harbor to straight up out of control Big Brother in a matter of 5 years.

Maybe Dick Cheney is a lizard alien or something.

As far as Iran goes, the American populace needs a boogie man. Conservatives rally behind Israel so Iran is used as an effective boogie man by proxy.

Steve Forbe's op-ed was equally disgraceful.
