SBEmu Public Preview - October 12th

The time you have all been waiting for has finally come!

On October 12th, SBEmu will be hosting a public game preview! That's right, anyone can join in!

Come see how far the game has come, and help us test the load capacity of our servers.

Connecting to SBEmu

First, make sure that you have a patched Shadowbane client (you can usually find it on torrent sites).

Next, you have to tell the client to connect to a different server. Access your server reference file by going into the Shadowbane directory's "Config" folder. Open the file "ArcaneIP.cfg" file with notepad, and make sure the information inside looks like the following:

SERVER= SB-LS.ShadowbaneEmulator.com
PORT= 6000

Then save the file, and you are all ready! You will be able to log in using your forum login ID and password on October 12th.

Q&A

Q: What map will be used?
A: This preview will be on the Aerynth map. http://morloch.shadowbaneemulator.com/index.php/Aerynth

Q: What has changed since before?
A: A lot! Many of the old, annoying bugs you experienced on the last preview are fixed. Combat is extremely stable. You can also form your own guild and build it a city!

Q: How long do we get to play?
A: We are planning on just one week

Q: What if I want to play after the preview?
A: Apply to become a closed beta tester here (login and then click link) http://shadowbaneemulator.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=273 . We will also be holding many events and contests that award closed beta invitations. Stay tuned!

week long stress test, ive been playing on a borrowed closed beta account and im pretty impressed with what they've done cant wait for the start of the new map in closed beta now that i got a invite to play.

The only draw back I have with SB is the click to move feature as tired and out dated. Well that, and the broken class meta that allowed for grief builds when coupled with those who would exploit any/or all broken game mechanics.

SWGemu had a similar problem. In the end they couldn't address all the broken game mechanics on top of it taking them years and years to get anything done.

SB major flaw was defense mechanic. All or nothing defense-based invulnerability builds were retarded.

From siege point of view - flying never worked. They even had to put spires to address it.

At the same time mine fights, custom city layouts and crafting gear via vendor was golden.

Plus, Tas, we will always have that time together when we ... SB.EXE!!!

Sure it had issues but I have yet to find a game that was as good as SB.

SB was good, if they updated the graphics, updated the UI (square buttons please) & made combat a none tab target. I would love a new SB.

Square over round makes no difference to me, well I do like the round now that I think about it, its different then everyone else and you can place them where ever you want. Matter of fact the ui was fine, it was very customizable.
Tab target was fine. not sure what the issue with tab target is.

As for the preview, it is working but they have to reset sever more often to get the lag down. You have to understand its a emu and not the real game, cant bitch to much, they have done a fine job.
Still fun.

building from last test.
