I saw a discussion today about buying stats vs buying boosters...

Please comment on the two posts below:

you are incorrect. When booster gives for example 10 str it doesn't give bonuses that 10 str gives, it gives WAY MORE(especially if it is your class stat)

example

50 str = 15 dmg
40str + 10str booster = 20 dmg. Not so hard difference but it is big and you should get cheap stat ofc but you should focus on getting booster after that

-----------------------------------------------------
Boosters have hidden benefits.

40 points of booster > 40 points of plain stat. Not just from the extra bump to stam/hp/mana, but hidden damage increase.

Beta forum, for example, reported that 80 int base did less damage as an elementalist than 60 int boosted (20 base + 40 boost). If damage calculations were based purely on the amount of stat you'd expect the 80 to do more damage than the 60 - but that's not how it works.

It's a stupid system IMO, that makes off-boost builds shittier than they should be.

Maybe they are trying to confuse people but what do you guys think about this comment??

the majority of your damage comes from : boosters>mastery>rank of weapon used

the actual stat has very VERY little to do with damage.

imo stats are the biggest bonus to damage
weather its dex for bow dmg str for sword dmg ect
at some point it will cost you more to buy 10 str than it will to buy 1 level of boosters which is 10 str at that point if you are chasing str it is wiser to buy the booster to get the 10 str in the end tho it is only 10 str there is no invisible dmg mod
your weapon skills will also raise damage and at some point its likely that raising a weapon skill is cheaper than buying more str and in that you will get more out of spending points in the weapon but at the beginning id highly reccomend stats over skills at least up to 70

"the majority of your damage comes from : boosters>mastery>rank of weapon used"

It's the booster that increases the stat, so this should read:

"the majority of your damage comes from : stat>mastery>rank of weapon used"

But, I think it is more like:

"the majority of your damage comes from : boosters>rank of weapon used>mastery"

The higher the stat, say str for 2H, the higher the weapon rank you can use, so the two are hand in hand. I was pumping 2H Mastery up & it did increase dmg output ... not 100% sure what the ratio was vs. rank+stat.

What I never got to test was boosting & buying dex after getting str up over a reasonable amount (like R50-R60 equip) & checking out the swing speed boost you get from the higher dex.
