Are you too aghast?

Your business insider link isn't working for me. Based on your quote - they let scientologists advertise on the site. While I think this is bad ethical and business decision (just like a sponsorship by NRA, RIAA or big tobacco), it is still very clearly a paid advertising. Just like slapping Nike logo on your baseball star's uniform.

Works for me but the other link also works. If it was a banner ad or something similar it would likely have gone largely unnoticed. When was the last time you saw a 1,000 word write up posted on a news site as an "advertisement"?

Scientology . . . ugh.

I think if the nutjob shooters went and whacked a bunch of Scientologists, I doubt it would even make the news.

Hell, they might even get a medal.

Eck.

In fairness though, Atlantic does have some good writers.

With even Forbes occasionally falling in line with various propaganda trains... finding a truly great MSM outlet of any sort is pretty much impossible.

Still, a pretty big black mark against their editorial board.
