You would see me do just that. I used to run 10 miles with boots and combat utilities on, wearing a 40-60 pound pack when in the STA Platoon (aka Scout/Sniper platoon) in the USMC. Pretty sure I could strafe with 20-30 pounds of metal armor on. Besides that, some of those people in combat weren't wearing metal armor.
