Tempest, try out the free trial, you can go up to level 60 without spending a dime. The only caveat I will say is don't judge the game off the first 15-20 hours, or first 35-40 levels. The game is very slow to begin with, with a 2.5 sec gcd and few abilities at low levels, it turns alot of people off at the beginning, but I promise you the game opens up alot and just keeps getting better and better the further you get into the game.
