The KGB Oracle Forums The KGB Great Hall of History (ARCHIVE) Darkfall Public Forum Is DF fun?

AoC was disappointing fiasco, is DF fun on a fundamental level? If I ignore all bugs and server stability, is core gameplay promising? Is this Return of Golden Age or another pointless grind?

The game is very fun. Personally I am even finding the initial grind fun. Every night it seems we have a hunting party and a resource gathering party. You have the choice for either because we need gold and stone and wood.

I would compare the grind to UO. If taking a long time to level up your skills is a bad thing to you then you will not like it but I personally think everyone should give this game a shot. It is really fun and getting more and more fun every day. Get in soon and be a part of the city building. It gives you a great sense of accomplishment and it is a great way to get to know your fellow guildies.

I would say the BEST ever. Its not perfect, but way better than anything so far.

I would agree... It is one great game and I look forward to seeing the long term play that it gives us hopes for.

And yes to the OP....DFO is HELLA fun! Unless you suck at PvP, then it's likely a futile grasp toward some false hope of mere adequacy. Heard the Winterblades rolled ya'll in your city? Is it true they are merely role-playing a PvP guild as stated in the DFO forums. Please do expand!

Hard to do anything else with a laptop and a 1meg broadband connection, stuck in a Professional Military Course in the middle of Hell.

I'd jump in a heartbeat into Darkfall if not for:

a) Technical issues: from what I read it is of sb.exe magnitude

b) Questionable end-game: SB spoiled me and I expect sieges, wars and ability to Get Off My Lawn (TM) anyone in the game. Beta reports suggest end-game is not finished and tacked-on mess.

c) Community: Are we going to see return of mega-zergs running people off the servers? I am not the one to complain about being underdog, but I'd rather not grind if game going to implode and turn into ghost town in 6 months.

If travel remains the way we've seen it so far (no teleporting) then the size of the map will pretty much keep any guild from controlling the whole map or running smaller guilds out of the game. Travelling across the map takes hours at the moment, so if any guild spreads out too far, then smaller guilds will definitely be able to attack the larger guilds' towns guerilla style and face practically zero opposition.
