Yup the Idris and Javelin are going to be AWESOME ships!

Glad I gave up on my 890 Jump for an Idris (even though it is a P)

just watched Star Citizen: Reverse the Verse 2.15 - UK

[video:youtube]https://youtu.be/T-UufOCNG_k?t=2278[/video]

someone asked a stupid question wanted to know how a big slow ship would out run a small fast ship
my first thought was it wont that why its slow
But it appears that CIG have different ideas

The bigger the ship the more fuel it has so although its acceleration may be slower it can accelerate for a lot longer to get to a lot higher speeds using afterburner with carriers being the fastest ships in the game.

so the Idris is now the fastest player ship available

A tail chase is the least effective means of performing a combat intercept.

At what time does he ask that question Instrument? I am trying to find it? When I watched RTV I thought they were saying you get up to your ships max speed then turn off the afterburn for a much less and reduced fuel cost as you will keep moving at that speed without having to keep after burning. But with the question you mentioned that would sound like there is no speed cap, just limited by fuel to get up to a certain speed if you are after burning. It would probably take an Idris a while as you mentioned to get up to speed that can outrun a smaller ship though. The downside is yah sure you could technically after burn up to a high speed but if you have no fuel left to jump to a station to refuel or if you're out in unknown space well you are stranded essentially.

Alright, well if they decide to give bigger ships a faster after burn speed it sounds like as what I mentioned before it will take a while. He mentioned having to defend until you get up to speed. I am not sure why a bigger ship in trouble would just want to after burn away anyway instead of just jumping away.

I would assume that the interdiction mechanic will stop quantum drive in an area so you will have the escape the area affect before you re enter quantum

taken all togeather it kind of works

If they have that in mind in the future then it makes sense. I think a lot of the people that are going nuts right now with changes are forgetting about once everything comes into play it will all work out. I know a lot of people right now on the forum are going nuts over, well if we after burn up to max speed can't we just turn off the engines and continue without using fuel, but they said in the video that it will still continue to use a small amount of fuel once you reach max speed.

This isn't something currently implemented, since top speed is limited and there is no fuel consumption. When is this planned to to in?
