Grabbed this piece from the monthly report posted on RSI. Not surprised with needing m,ore crew which is bad, but the docking system. Wow...

FYI, crash land on my hull and your a dead man lol.

"We’ve had another round of feedback on the “Idris” Frigate interior, just tidying up some minor points before the full PBR texture pass. We needed to add a few more escape pods to cater for the increased crew capacity, and make a bit more sense of the docking systems. You should now be able to drop your Constellation, Retaliator, etc. neatly on the top of the Idris and disembark through the docking collar with some dignity. We are really looking forward to seeing this “Hangar” ready soon."

Sounds harmless just a few friends dropping around for tea.
Nothing at all to do with the capture the Idris game mode in AC

Still sounds like it is almost ready to be launched which is great news

I expect the Idris to get hit with the balancing stick so hard that people demand refunds or melt down value. Considering how much the Idris has grown in size, firepower, and versatility. It's either that, or they really flesh out Anti-Cap and Anti-Sub Cap weapons that make sense.

the one thing the idris has not done is grow in firepower

its grown in size so its a nice big target but the firepower has remained the same

So the new ATV show. Idris review number 3... Either they suck at making ships or their is some complications making the ship. Destroyer class would be cool lol.

Physics are causing an abundance of carrier landing crashes. It's as difficult as real life. Causing ship damage and disabling other landed ships in the process. Oh boy looks like only trained pilots are landing on the idris or higher.

"Destroyer class"

exactly the same thought I had the ever growing idris:)

shame as last month it was listed as almost complete

"the Idris is getting closer to “Hangar” release. (caveat: it won’t fit in the hangar so there will be another cool way to get into it from the hangar)."

I really want to know its weapon load-out now cause the bigger it gets it has to have enough firepower to compensate. I think it needs an engine upgrade too. I hope the P model gets the dual power-plant like the M. Not sure having one less power-plant will effect weapon systems when i re add the rail-gun.

At this point the ships stuck with me since I can't gift it over ($1,000) and too many non giftable ships. So it better turn out good.

I still think the Idris-P is the more useful ship
it may have only 1 powerplant but it is described as the patrol version so it will have range.

To me the Idris-P is top of the line for killing ships and the
Idris-M with its railgun is bottom of pile at killing capital ships.

if we are going to go cap ship hunting roll out the bombers

A mark two "peacekeeper" variant developed for the UEE patrol services, the Idris-P strips the standard ship's ship-to-ship gun and spinal mount in favor of additional cargo capacity and superior speed.

The I-P also can mount the spinal mass driver where the current Citizen version cannot. CR has already heard an ear full from the worlds Naval crowd about how the hell to size and class a "ship". It isn't from lack of information or want, its almost completely a technology, code and game mechanics maturing issue.

I expect we will see every class of ship from skiff sub snub fighter to System level Dreadnaughts.

The Idris I'm really wondering the firepower on this now. With the reveal of the 890 jump which has so much firepower, the idris will be beefed up or the 890 needs to be reduced.

Yup, i've seen that picture. Makes it look amazing. Really want to wander around in mine. You can see that you can dock a connie size ship on the top now. Interested to see the inside flight deck size now as well.

Woah you have an Idris? nice!! Please let me be a crew member =p

I was contemplating purchasing one but didn't have enough loose cash at the time. I instead went with the Retaliator and M50.

Well as long as we have the crew and the funds, I'll be trying to get this bad boy out of the dock as much as possible. Plenty of things to do hopefully, as long as they deliver on their current promises.

Back in the December 2013 time frame when they moved from kickstarter to there own online store it was the biggest single complaint/suggestion. If customers were going to pre-fund this title, than the customer support for the store had better be A+ or else there would be no confidence in a product that didn't and still doesn't exist.

Its one of the very few things that CR and Ben fully listened too and fully implemented after they saw the first wave or results and frustration. After you get a couple thousand tickets that say "Trying to throw money at your store but its broke.." you get the real time message...

This video shows a 3d model of the old idris compared to
the constellation and the carack

this is for the old idris at 140 meters
the idris that will be in game is 240 meters 71% bigger
the Javerlin is 348 meters 148% bigger than the ship in the video
this time we will not need a bigger boat

The Javelin will defiantly be the Destroyer class of choice from the UEE side as it should be the largest ship that is packable. The question is going to be how much of your Armada can you pack into a single instance of the PU as you travel through space from Point Alpha to Point Zeta.

I think the degree of Cost to Operate crew based ships is going to cause a lot of crying once we really get deep into the Beta cycle. All these people that bought all those ships are going to learn the cost of ownership and operations real fucking fast.

javerlin length 345m

and the new big boy on the block

Hull E length 372.1m

don't look at me for an escort I will be busy trying to get to a market before you flood it 153,600 cargo units

still hoping that the "From Terra (Terra III), Terra System to Gen (Terra IV), Terra System" Food (Luxury)trade route works
nice safe space route no jumps

If I was planning on being a merchant, I might consider these. Although I would probably go for the Hull E to go with my Orion

First of all sorry for the thread drift on this
started out as a bit of a joke about the Idris size but in the end was all about the Hull A,B,C,D,E
and I wish I had started a new thread on it now

Anyway the below video is my final post about the hull
its by greyheaded gamer who has made a number of these size videos but he had a huge issue with all the poly's with the E
so the island is just a plain back ground this time

he has also done videos on the smaller hulls

Hull A

update on the Idris its BIG and parts of it will be shown at citizen con
CR says until you they get the NPC's working you will feel like
citizen Kane wandering around a massive mansion
for Sq42 to make it feel crewed they have 90-100 npc's in it

ps
as Zhou starts to panic give a thought to Jetstar the Javelin is twice the size of the Idris

Yup I just read that too on the forum!

And wow! I never saw that utility craft before, that is pretty awesome! I wonder what other capital or large ships might have one docked. The orange part looks modular, like it can be removed perhaps to compliment a mining or salvaging ship.

It is going to be a pretty massive/amazing ship!

Big... bigger than you think....

Loved the "wander around in it like Citizen Kane" description.

Ya that thing will be a ghost town in most people's hangars. Not only is it massive but the amount of maintenance will be extensive.

If nothing else, you have to respect CR's statement about "Nothing less than the best..." and how that relates to titles like Wing Commander which still track 25 years later.

CR has made statements early on in the funding cycle, that the internet has managed in 20 years to provide a Renascence for gaming, its decline and how he hopes SC brings it back full circle. Where developers make titles where being the best and having a compelling game is only acceptable and allowing the monetary side to not be the focus of your endevour and the core of your mechanics. Of course he ended those statements with "Basically, don't suck!"

The other really telling part was when he brought out the scripts for visual reference between a traditional major movie, WC, WC II and SQ 42, and how much interlaced story arch there is to explore. I am actually really looking forward to enjoying the fuck out of the stand alone full length SQ 42 title. There is no flag to plant in the Verse, there is no planets to fight over for "e-peen map markers", which makes me happy I can spend time playing the stand alone and not have to land rush, diaper play through content and face grind, all just to be competitive starting on day one.

About the only disappointing thing for SC that I can honestly say bothers me is that they chose CryEngine over Unreal Engine to develop on and all the pledge goals that kept ratcheting up the initial necessity ones that were required to provide a solid Space Combat Sim title.

I am really liking the way the exterior of the Idris looks now. It looks better than it's concept drawing. Some other ships don't quite match their concept drawing and look worse or certain exterior aspects are shaped a little differently but the Idris looks pretty cool, and that little cargo ship is cool that comes with it. That hangar looks pretty spacious too.

I'll need a few drinks so I don't have a heart attack as I watch people crash land on the deck or hit the ship hull trying to do a manual landing.

And we could always set up lawn chairs in the hangar of the Idris, and see how many people crash into the already parked ships and blow up starting internal explosions.

The whole game honestly looks so much like what I've been wanting for years in pretty much ANY sci-fi universe. Star Trek Online and all the other Star Trek games have fallen short of giving you any sense of scale when it comes to the inside of the ship and even space travel itself.

This is really the first time that I've seen anything even remotely like what I imagined. It's really awesome to see just how huge these ships are. The way the ships explode as well should create some really fun scenarios trying to escape when it is severely damaged.

If they can get the FPS module and Multi-Crew systems functioning soon enough for us to all try it, it's going to be a blast even this early in development. They really seem like they are trying to polish everything before it is released and the production value shows IMO.

Frankly, I am really interested in the ship meta and how to rack and stack a fleet to utterly punk those that try and jump it or that we are hunting. The ability to cloak or mask a multi-crew with snub role warfare and the entire fleet make up of tacklers, cloakers, jammers and the tank-n-spank snub fighters is perhaps the most interesting part of this title to me, besides the raw pew-pew, boarding tactics and the eventual political meta.

That will be fun to see, I definitely want to make a fleet of "stealth" bombers/boarding to steal cargo. Kind of my thing.

Yup I am interested to see what works as well or what sort of fleets we will see. With certain ships being limited to range unlike in eve I would think we would see more mixed fleets with support ships if heading long range/deep space or small ship fighter squadrons/gangs/pirates staying around systems with landing zones and or squadrons supporting capitals.

You and me both. Ship meta and attack fleet builds may be one of the more interesting game concepts that keeps me interested long term. Especially with how to game the entire instancing game mechanic so that soft targets can't hide in an instance and carebare the fuck out of non-green zones.

The combination of ship types definitely has my interest. It should make for interesting gameplay. I'm curious on how they plan to handle hangars on planets more than what has been announced with starting hangar and buy others. If I have to move ships to various sectors for operations it could be complicated on how I load out my ships.

I melted ALL of my combat ships....

OH NOES!!!!! OMG!!!!! WTF!?!?!

Ah no worries... that was just so I could pickup the Armada Pack; which had all of those ships that I already had + an Idris, Starfarer Gemini, and an Sabre (which I was planning on picking up anyway).

Sorry Zhou, I know what you are saying about the bundle devaluing what you had restricted access to. But on the bright side, we now have another Idris in the KGB fleet (maybe one more when Laryagar gets his support ticket resolved).

I got the ticket fixed. I have that pack and the Endeavor Master pack and Hull pack, with a few others. Need to recalculate my ship list. I kept my Constellation Phoenix but tossed my other two Constellations. I also have the Orion and Reclaimer. That is from memory, I will have to go through my hangar. At least I got my Super Hornet back with the pack. I need to repurchase my Ghost Hornet. Sometimes I just want a ship that gets me from point A to B without being seen.

Laryagar - good to hear they got it worked out for you. CIG hasn't been the fastest on tickets lately, but they do make things work... eventually!

I went ahead and CCU'd my Freelancer -> Constellation Aquila and one of my Reliants (I had 2) -> Cutlass Red for my Endeavor Hope (or to ambulance drive for you or someone else).

the below is a post from ben take with a big pinch of salt

Howdy!
These are the stats currently listed in our internal Wiki. I should stress that these are by no means final, and really won't be even when the Idris is flight ready... a whole lot of balancing (and thus stat) work takes place AFTER that stage. Naw - it certainly isn't to scale... but definitely still a large ship!

The Idris currently sits at 247 meters long, the Bengal is over 1100 meters long....scale might not be as off as you think.

I still don't see how they plan to render a carrier or 2 in the same space. The thing looks like it would take the entire grid.

"there are 90+ turrets/missile launchers on the Bengal one of the turrets is the size of an Idris"

not exact quotes as done by memory

So I'm reading all this about the size and operational needs of these vessels and ppl touch on those requirements but never expand upon these instead everyone seems fixated and awestruck over the size. While yes the size of these capital ships is important and a bit intimidating I think brass tacks wise we should be planning now for the future operation of these vessels we may need to sub a whole guild just to man all these, or form a kgh marine force

based on the interest we've seen in this game, once it ACTUALLY releases in full form i think we wont have much issue manning these large ships. I'm sure William and the PD crew would be down to join us on this title as well.

That may be overly optimistic William and PD are great friends but not a large clan by any means, even kgb might not be sizeable enough for something on this scale. However many of us who have been around the block do know other clans. I just hope that Zhou and Jet have their knee pads ready if need be

hah true story, i suppose i'm not used to playing games that literally require huge numbers to even function. normally numbers are more of an added bonus and make things easier. It seems like some of these large ships will require dedicated "star fleet" type gameplay. It's so exciting!

Yup the Idris and Javelin are going to be AWESOME ships!

Glad I gave up on my 890 Jump for an Idris (even though it is a P)

just watched Star Citizen: Reverse the Verse 2.15 - UK

[video:youtube]https://youtu.be/T-UufOCNG_k?t=2278[/video]

someone asked a stupid question wanted to know how a big slow ship would out run a small fast ship
my first thought was it wont that why its slow
But it appears that CIG have different ideas

The bigger the ship the more fuel it has so although its acceleration may be slower it can accelerate for a lot longer to get to a lot higher speeds using afterburner with carriers being the fastest ships in the game.

so the Idris is now the fastest player ship available

A tail chase is the least effective means of performing a combat intercept.

At what time does he ask that question Instrument? I am trying to find it? When I watched RTV I thought they were saying you get up to your ships max speed then turn off the afterburn for a much less and reduced fuel cost as you will keep moving at that speed without having to keep after burning. But with the question you mentioned that would sound like there is no speed cap, just limited by fuel to get up to a certain speed if you are after burning. It would probably take an Idris a while as you mentioned to get up to speed that can outrun a smaller ship though. The downside is yah sure you could technically after burn up to a high speed but if you have no fuel left to jump to a station to refuel or if you're out in unknown space well you are stranded essentially.

Alright, well if they decide to give bigger ships a faster after burn speed it sounds like as what I mentioned before it will take a while. He mentioned having to defend until you get up to speed. I am not sure why a bigger ship in trouble would just want to after burn away anyway instead of just jumping away.

I would assume that the interdiction mechanic will stop quantum drive in an area so you will have the escape the area affect before you re enter quantum

If they have that in mind in the future then it makes sense. I think a lot of the people that are going nuts right now with changes are forgetting about once everything comes into play it will all work out. I know a lot of people right now on the forum are going nuts over, well if we after burn up to max speed can't we just turn off the engines and continue without using fuel, but they said in the video that it will still continue to use a small amount of fuel once you reach max speed.

This isn't something currently implemented, since top speed is limited and there is no fuel consumption. When is this planned to to in?

I would not aspire to the command of a Javelin

Such commands and levels of speed are the prerogative of the High King alone.

I would expect its top speed to be just as great. Now accelerating not so much that hing is massive.

A javelin or Idris should definitely be in the back field, not on the front line. With enough rear guard and forward attackers/defenders. Though I'm sure I will see people charging in these ships to get blown way by some random person.
