after further reading, Im guessing that in GW2 is a "KGB Faction State" and does not require full citizenship.

That being said, I would still like to become a member, however, I am not in such a hurry to find a sponsor... my awesomeness will speak for itself in time :)

Exactly, as a Federal run Faction by the High King (Entire Guild Effort) you have the 10 days, but just as you stated a State run Faction is dependant on the High Chancellor and his own personal recruiting methods.
