I'm starting greater magic and was wondering what is the cheapest route to get to 50.

im not so sure but i know it took me around 750 bone or so to get to 25 using rend. and that was a long time ago it may take less now.

Ya it is less, and in getting from 50 to 75 I felt rend did the best bang for the buck to be honest. Bone and Sulfur is all I used to get from 50 to 75.

It depends.

Use rend to 25 for sure. There's no question then (unless you have a shit ton of Ash and you can mix in beacon). Rend is a useful spell early (and late if you push it up high enough).

If you are going for high level magic (i.e. Arcane/Necro/Elementals) then I would do unburden after 25. It costs 1 Mandrake (so it's the cheapest spell to cast possible) and it's quite usefull. You WILL cast it when using high level magic and wearing armor to lower your encumbrance and maximize your damage spells.

So: If you are going GM to 50 and then switching schools: Rend/Beacon to 25, Unburden to 50.

If you are focusing on GM (not many people do..Jag did) then Rend/Beacon to 25, Keep doing Rend and unburden....rend is very usefull post lvl 75

I did Affliction Shield which is only 1 nacre as I had a shit ton from all my fishing. I got really good gains from this spell as well pre-magic patch that is. It may be slower now that targetting spells seem to raise magic faster then self buffs.

Ah ya forgot about unberden..lol I have that to like 85 pre patch..oops
