The lines seem similar in a lot of ways. Are some much more powerful then others? I notice that there is a light/dark sides that you can get at 25 greater magic and they are pre-reqs for another line. Is this the big kick ass lines? Or is elemental just as good? I ask because I am trying to get my GreaterMagic up and I am confused where to go after this.


What makes a man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?

I doubt any is ridiculously more powerful than another. In face I heard the 0 fire skill fireball and 0 air skill lightning bolt have identical mana costs, cast times, and damage, the only difference is the animation.

I hear a lot of lightning spells are instant or something.

You can only train 2 elemental spells, and they can't be opposites (e.g. You can have Fire and Air, but not Fire and Water, or Air and Ground.) I don't know if Witchcraft/Chanting count as elemental. What lines are those pre-reqs for, Necro and Arcane?

I don't know, I'm trying to use that link to help myself figure out where to go as well. I originally wanted Fire/Air, because of the cool factor. Now that I think of it though, I think I'll go earth because of the +resist melee buff, and the +strength, it should make Melee combat, which we all know is a huge part of the game, slightly easier. Then aside from that, there was another tree that has a stamina drain, and I think I might go for that. I mean... health drain and mana drain are cool, but we all know how crucial stam is.

Edit:
It turns out Earth has the stam drain.
Witchraft has the mana drain.
Necro has a health drain.


Water has an Int buff.
Fire has a quickness buff.
Earth has a strength buff.
Air has a dex buff.
Chanting has health, stam, and mana buffs.

could you explain more in detail which elementals are opposites?
for example could you just say which two elements you could take?

I know Fire and Air
what goes with earth? water?

Fire and Water are opposites.
Earth and Air are opposites.
and I believe Arcane and Necro are opposites.
Not sure if Chanting/Witchcraft count as elemental, and if they're opposites or if you can take both.

So now I am wondering if you can go something like
Chanting/Arcain and Earth, and Fire?

That combo seems like a killer spec. Buffs and then some powerhouse spells to back you up at range.

you have to get chanting b4 you can get arcane... so those are together. Just like you need Witchcraft b4 you can get necro.
And as far as I can tell... earth and fire is an option

yes
chanting and arcane are the "good" path or buffing path.
witch crafting is the "evil" path or debuffing path.

then you have elemtnal path as well which there are 4 to choose from. As long a you don't choose opposites your good to go.

The progression is like this:
lesser magic to greater magic to "good or bad" path to elemental.
You can technically have Elemental before you do anything with chanting and arcane. The requirements for Elemental is 50 greater magic, while it's 25 greater magic for chanting... make sense?

On a side note... raising your greater magic from 25 to 50 requires close to 3000 regs give or take a few hundreds! No easy task...
