Your right about the groups, to a certain extenet. Shadowbane always relied too much of group specs, but that doesn't mean it still isn't fun. Group specs aren't as critical in shadowbane now as they used to be. This is because back in the day, it was hard to get proper gear without dedicated farmers and a city rolling stuff; both of which are problems that are nonexsistant in shadowbane today with the onset of mines and freehold merchants selling 100% gear.

Not to mention shadowbane is ripe for the pickings because there really isn't organized guidls left, only zergs.

Server startup was always the best time in Shadowbane. I plan to give it a try again after the reset.

Guess we played different games. Yes if your in a guild you roll a group toon to help kill the infidels. But everyone has a favorite toon rolled up to play when not guild pvping. Thanks to Holrom I had a really good time playing spec toons.

Last time I played there were toons of every kind being played not just spec.

Yes there are cookie cutter builds. But there are also the toons you make that do things noone ever seen before. Yes its true ask anyone I have played with, I made some freaks that I had alot of fun playing. Its only cookie cutter if you play it that way.

Malog or Saedron?

The game differed over time.

I started on Treachery, right after the city of Skye fell.
When COS was the defacto persona non grata of the server.
Those days were FAR different than later runs I assure you.

However, the later days of ShadowBane had it's moments
without a doubt. I simply had no desire to roll a def-lock
healer-channy, or def / intlar. Or Birdy-barbs with gear
you could only get if you knew someone who ran the forges.

*shrug*

It had it's moments, but they are long since gone for me.
