I could have sworn that someone mentioned that by the end of the year we'd be in Darkfall beta. You know...we've been putting up with this shit for years. I'm not giving up yet, and I know someone is going to say "it's better to have a product ready for beta than to jump in when it's not". But hey, this is getting fucking ridiculous. Seriously. 10 days to go.

Someone start a 10 Days of Darkfall Beta song...

I feel you, man. Beta is the phase where you test the hell out of the game and find bugs to fix. I don't care about beta being a leap away from retail, that's the point.

It's been proven from past game sales that crap betas translate to crap retail. It may not be fare but betas are becoming more and more of just a sneak preview than bug fixing.

Looking at the beta for WoW, although it started out with a level cap of 20 and only 1/5 of the zones it has today, it had its graphics engine set up. So the eye candy was there and that was all that mattered because people took screen shots, posted them on sites, showed them to their friends, and it got people excited to play, regardless of the fact that it had no PvP in yet or missing levels or missing zones.

Shadowane on the other hand had shit-tastic graphics and many of us went around daily saying, "Oh it's beta, when final comes out the graphic will improve." But honestly, how easily can you get a friend excited to play a new MMO when the screen shot you're showing them is Shadowbane's graphics. Eye candy is where the market is at, luckily Darkfall realized this and thus pushed back it's beta a year and during this past year they've upgraded their graphics.

WOW Beta was still very much beta when I entered it (9 months before launch). They still had stat allocation per level, items didn't have nearly the over-abundance of stats that they do now, and classes like Warriors were the first and only ones to have talent trees. So people cried NERF the warrior before their class even got talents!!! Due to that reason alone, the warrior's innovation was shit on before everything else was even ready to go.

Then suddenly, the game went from character-centric to item-centric, warriors were nerfed several times before other classes even got their talents....what a fucking joke all that was. I should have quit the game right then and there - especially due to the itemcentric sell-out bullshit.

How do you it wasnt me pretending to be Heidi? I even used to wear fishnet stockings to make it more realistic.
