I probably have different concerns than Darka. My concerns are pretty basic to the game and that is the afk macro to win scenario.

With competition to get stats and skills up afk macroing is considered essential by some to compete. This is what ruined DFO for me personally. The depth of the game is important to it's longevity. Getting full stats and skills seems to be required for power gaming but I think is self defeating for game play.

We become used to logging in and going afk we are not playing the game. This is how many characters will start DFUW by getting our G mice and keyboards auto clicking for us. To me it's just not playing it's cheating the depth of the system and it leads to premature game decline. This is why games don't have the staying power they did early on. We all want to be max level and play the end game.

Early games for me were about playing and leveling each level of my character. Maybe I am just getting old, which I am, but we seem to be missing the journey here worrying about if someone else macrod their way to full stats and skills and we are at a disadvantage if we don't do the same.

I am for taking the path less traveled. I won't be macroing DFUW and at some point my character will be gimped that's just the way it will be. If the game fails to provide me with a satisfying play experience while I actively play it, then I will move on as I did in DFO.

I am not bagging on the game and not judging anyone for macroing, I know everyone will be doing it and render no judgement on anyone else it's just not how I intend to play. I can continue to contribute as I have been in beta, but perhaps at some point my character will be gimp compared to everyone else's macrod character, so be it.

Let's all enjoy DFUW for what it gives us individually and collectively.

I agree with you Hare. I am not a big macro person. I did it in DF1 but i think that was more do to Mor setting it up or wanting someone to beat on. For the most part I did not macro.

I dont intend to do a ton of macroing this time around either. Granted I craft and Harvest so my skills are not as critical on the battlefield. I know the grind for crafting does not seem near as bad as it was in DF1 for some of the crafting skills, that or our previous knowledge has really given us help in that dept.

I hope everyone can play for a long while n not get burned out or bored by pushing themselves too hard.

I couldn't agree more with you Hare. Same reasons I left DF1.

I just find it hard to enjoy a game where only way to stay viable is to macro skills when I'm not on.

I end up sitting here alot staring at my screen with no conversations, while everyone is afk macro'ing. Just doesn't feel like your accomplishing anything as a group. I hope this changes some once beta over, but not sure if it will with this type of game.

vent has been real quiet last 2 nights almost non exhistant
i hope that changes before beta ends cuz we need to have active playerbase or else recruiting is going to be a joke for us

i have no issues with macroing during the day while at work or asleepto be honest if thats what you want to do whatever but when yer home play dont macro
we need to group up more maybe go to a allies city and pvp or more pve groups like when beta launched

I agree Hare. The last MMO I played that was about the journey was eq1 pre shadows of luclin. I have been macroing but only when I'm at work. But I'm almost done with conversions and then I won't have anything to macro that I know how to do.

I can most certainly talk more in vent, i however didnt want to annoy anyone. I know when Heidi and I are on, we are chatter boxes most of the time.

Hare... Your views are well stated... I am on the otherside, but think that there is still balance if played right. I have been interested in finding the right macro combos... It seems like the rate of increase from normal game play is 3x1, the macro's are just not that efficient (yet). The real gains in the game seems to come more from armor and more important PvP skills. The point and shoot style of the game makes skills play a bigger role then a GW2 or WoW style game F1-F6 game. Without auto target it makes things harder, and good communication, and use of fog of war come into play.

I love the way the role the crafting system plays in this game. Because armor plays a big role in combat, good crafters and harvesters are needed. I like the rush of having a harvesting outside the safe zome, as I hold more and more. I become the lamb meat the game should build upon. I think that they should allow the marcoers, but make then hold something of value, either armor, regs, mats so they become the hunted by active players. Think about where they hang out, and how to take them out. I like that they limited the 25 skill max in the safe zone, and think they should do more.

Another advantage to the non-marcoer is they class system they are using. If you focus on one specific play style, it will be top level quickly, where a macroer will try and cover every skill, taking 3 times as long. It seems like gaining prowess past 10k is going to be difficult, but all you need to max one line.

This game could end up like shadowbane, where getting a char to 100skill in one area is not hard. The question will be how a group of 10-20 specific skills to support one another can control this game.

I think back to the uo days, and there being minning macros to sail around hit all sides of mountain. Never did it, but remember others that did. When I went through my online poker phase, there was talk about bots being used. Macroers have always been in MMORPGS, and always will. The challenge was to see if you could beat the bot...

The heart of the game will always belong to the adventure. That is your game style, and leads to the choas chest chase. I think you have proven that this is the way to the games top wealth. 10K Hare we call you. Knowing where the key chests are kept, villiages are, and scope/scale of the game will play a key part in the success of any group.

I think that after about 1 month everyone will have at least one line at max, and that will make things more level. Or you can macro and get it done in a week. I think your game style has a place in a game like list. It is not perfect, but it is better then most. Otherwise... let me know what you find more enjoyable.

Let's see who is on this weekend. You can't expect many to be excited about a beta.

I love macros, but understand all your concerns.
