Can't believe I forgot Looper in my list.

JGL is great although the makeup/cgi (I don't know which) to make him look like a young Bruce Willis creeps me out.

Emily Blunt is one sexy lady.

I think Looper was way more enjoyable than Brick which is what Rian Johnson was known for before this.

I love the back-story and mystery revolving around the 'Rain-maker' and ya it was obvious pretty quickly but there is something about origin stories that tickles my fancy.

I enjoyed that one as well, and you're exactly right about the make-up. If I hadn't seen a behind the scenes work up on it before hand it would have been really weird.

Well the interesting paradox is that of the Future Rain-Maker himself...was he closing loops to protect his criminal empire in the future or was he closing loops to save his mother, and have her back..for a criminal master mind to have such a notion lends credence to the movie that gets a viewer to think hmm, perhaps the rain maker purposely set this chain of events in motion to rid his world of the crime associated with looping, if so not only was he seeking a small measure of redemption, but also the love of his mother. Then again he could have just been one mean ass sob.

I did not put too much thought into it as Looper certainly wasn't the most logical time travel sci-fi.

If you really want your mind blown, watch Primer. It's a real low budget (no special effects) movie on time travel and to this date the best done with real cause and effect.

The problem I had with loopers (still a good movie) is that usually you have two ways of handling the paradox creation: either going back in time creates a full new reality so nothing you do has an effect on you, or you have only one reality and anything you do as a direct effect. But there they go halfway with each.

considering even science can't fully explain time, with string theory or membranes or a combination of the two, I think a healthy measure of sustained believe-ability can be found in the movie if a person is willing to suspend logical thought. Which is all entertainment is supposed to do, which is entertain, and I was. I enjoy endings which illustrate how far one must go to find reconciliation, and the sacrifices one must make.
