Skyfall

I am not a huge Bond fan, Casino Royale as much loved as it was did not do much for me. This felt like a great action/thriller and less of a cheesy Bond flick. Javier Bardem is one of the best Bond villains easily.

The Imposter

This is a documentary, a boy from the US is found 3 years later after going missing and is found in Spain. A very bizarre yet compelling story.

End of Watch

Very surprised how good this was. Do not let the 'hand camera' gimmick fool you. You quickly forget about it as ths gritty buddy-cop movie pulls you in and makes you forget about it. The acting by Pena and Gyllenhal are top notch and by the end I felt a lot invested in the characters, more than I had expected :S

Django Unchained

Tarantino does not disappoint. I waited all year for this to come out and loved it. Great dialogue, Waltz character Dr King was just as good as his Nazi Hunter character in Inglorious Basterds. What a great ride, the action was over the top and fun and if you like revenge movies Django Unchained is just for you. The only criticism I could make for this is there was not one scene that stood out that had an epic 'song' in it, something Tarantino's movies usually have had in the past.

The Intouchables

While maybe a tad over-rated Intouchables was a heartfelt story. If you don't mind the sub-titles, this is a great French Drama inspired from real events. I am on the lookout for Omar Sy's future movies as he was great in this.

The Grey

Oh great a plane crash and the survivors are chased by a pack of super wolves, what a retarded movie. WRONG. This was awesome, Liam Neeson continues to impress me. There was something that stuck with me from this movie. Absolutely fantastic score and the ending was excellent.

Perks of Being a Wallflower

This is probably my hidden gem movie of the year. I had zero expectations for this and came out extremely impressed. Adapted from the novel written by Stephen Chbosky, he went on to write the screenplay AND direct. Far from amateur, this may be one of the best 'highschool' genre movies ever.

The Invisible War

A documentary focusing on sexual assaults and rapes within the US military. I was infuriated by the end, but anything that can invoke such emotion is good in my books. Truly haunting stuff.

Life of Pi

The most visually appealing movie of the year. Another movie adapted from novel (boy are there a lot of good ones lately). Directed by Ang Lee, the story focus' on a 16 year old boy's tale of survival stranded at sea. Has a real Castaway vibe to it but has messages of friendship/family that really hit home. Richard Parker 4 life!

Moonrise Kingdom

Probably my favourite movie of the year. Wes Anderson; you either love em or hate em has made a movie to even rival Rushmore. Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton, Francis McDormand, Bill Murray are all in this movie and SECONDARY characters. There is no mistaking that this is a Wes Anderson movie; the cinematography, costumes and setting bring you back in time on a great ride.

Movies I have yet to see:

- The Master
- Seven Psychopaths
- Lincoln
- Zero Dark Thirty
- The Hobbit

I had almost forgotten about the "u" you added to favorite, and then I was rudely reminded, when I got to "The Grey," that you're from Canadialand. One of fewer than 5 movies in 36 years that I have watched for 45 minutes (trying my best to like it) and then turned off. Water-boarding not getting you the answers you want? Put on "The Grey" and watch the answers spill out, but be prepared to clean up the eye bleeding.

P.S.
Your first clue is the "e" in gray...

Oh, the Hobbit was pretty awesome.

edit*
watching End of Watch now, I'll let you know if we can trust the taste of a man who wears an all denim suit as a tuxedo.

edit2*
Gamgam redeemed herself with End of Watch. Great flick, gut wrenching ending, but worth the watch.

Didn't care much for The Grey. End of Watch was incredible.

You have to watch Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. The concept could be a joke, but it ends up as one of the best vampire / action movies I've seen.

The 'Grey' is not for everyone. It is just something that I personally enjoyed a lot.

Arkh that is the second time I've heard that about Lincoln Vampire Hunter. I will check it out later. (I normally hate B Action movies though)

I am waiting for Enders Game, which is being made finally, and hope it is coming out in 2013.

No trailers yet but did see a still shot of Harrison Ford as Colonel Graff.

Every year this guy does an awesome edited montage of the movies that came out in the year. It's more fun if you've seen the majority.

A Excellent Movie, and one I personally recommend.
