The KGB Oracle
Question to ours guild leaders and members too!
Im asking this only to put some action in our forums laugh

What could be a good place to guild development(Darkfall) in the long run in your view?

To be in the main continent or be safe in some island?
To be in a small trustable alliance or in a big alliance?

my humble opnion and view.

I would like to be in the main agon, probably in a city close to a chaos stone, like Tughri, out of the flashes of big(hot) cities like Aradoth,Andruk,Marsharl, one place that is good for both new players and veterans darkfall players, and like 30-60 seconds from a chaos stone, able to be in action with my guildmates even if I was a casual player and dont have problems with bindspots. One place that will be possible development in the long run, but too get in action fast (riding). I know that Andruk is perfect like that, but it will be always in the "flashes".

I would like to be in a trustable small alliance, rather than a big alliance. I dont know how is BoTs at the moment in NA, but I would prefer to be with them that with VG guys. I would like to see the KGB more independent. I know that is hard to accomplish, to be in your own. We know that the Big alliances in the majority always crumble with some exceptions of course.

Well, that is my opinion, and you guys, what do you think?
This is kind of like what I was discussing. I think it depends on game mechanics that are currently broken. From personal experience, Andruk was the most fun I have had in a long long time.

Yes, that last city we had (not cbay, the other one) was horrible, like drunk monkeys designed it.
A lot of people were against Andruk, but it was fun because it forced people to stop doing solo/macro/crafting stuff - mainly because a lot of gankers in the area ... thusly people were forced to play actively instead of afk.

I haven't logged onto DFO for quite a while, but from what I'm hearing, the numbers are few and far between. That, and with the instability of the DFO community, even mass recruiting is probably hard because so many people are on the fence.

If the expansion does change a lot, I'm still for a larger - less dependent on allies direction of the guild. We were wayyy too selective in early DFO, and it showed, when were we forced to depend on allies to survive. Not that there's nothing wrong with being selective, but with the attitude and player makeup of the guild, the "hardcore" selective "elite" playstyle was not condusive to our playerbase. We just weren't that type of guild.

Still, without more info on the expansion, this convsation is a bit moot.
The best, as rep wanted and if we have the number, would be Andruk for the activity and Apautan for an easy to defend city (if the new siege system is like SB).
I would of much prefered Hyperion-like recruiting tbh. Play to Crush, and numbers do matter.
I pick Andruk over Apautan it is a pain & looks like drunk monkeys designed it.
If you can hold it i'd suggest andruk to start with

The Super Nodes alone add up so much people don't need skillups to much at all

= Armor
= Weapons
= Siege Equipment

Most of you guys know how to get runestones and go use them and if need to bind in chaos citys or have more runes for farming runs

Just think its easy city to get in if your not at war

I will never, ever, ever be for this bullshit.

These are not play to crush tactics, these are play to suck. It's complete and utter fail.

Point and case: Darkfall is a game that people play to win. It takes more skill than any MMO to date and it literally ripped apart guilds that thought they were close. It completely separates WoW players.

Regardless of the hype, it's not about numbers. Numbers (really, really overwhelming numbers) might win a siege, but numbers will not have fun and will not keep people in the game. People have fun owning small field battles, and owning face during even numbers. Not winning because you swarm like locusts.

Play to win, not to outnumber. Love you, but I'm tired of this excuse when it comes to Darkafall hindsight.

That's real truth, darkfall is different from Age of Conan and other games like that.

I agree!
KGB's success in Shadowbane was due to this. Again. I'm not a zergling by anymeans, I only care about what gives us the best chance to win.

We are NOT all pvpers, that much is clear. But this is a PVP game - in order to supplement this, we need to adjust our strategy accodingly.
You know, after the meeting, it just occured to me that we're about to join the zerg. (Yassam alliance)

How is that any different than recruiting alot more people? We had an alliance with VG and COTP - which toward the start, were ZERGS in EVERY sense of the word ...

... so why are we so against being a zerg? but we'll join one?

I think everyone here knows the reality is, AT THE VERY LEAST, we need to bust up numbers considerably, or else we'll be doomed either being a nomad guild or just another cog in one of the zerg alliance's wheels.

OR, a much more appealing prospect, allying with 1 or 2 guilds MAX (which is a hard life)

The fact is, people don't want to label KGB as a zerg cause people will start talking shit about us, but they are perfectly willing to ally themselves with zergs that, lets be honest, had their fair share of aholes. (Goons, tacticsless COTP)

Just things to think about. And please, THINK about it, unless we're satisfied being second fiddle to an alliance of zerg. Sure, everyone's part of the zergs, but that's not an excuse not to stick to your guns.

**

Realistically, though, mass recruit is near impossible at this point - but I do think that KGB should think of more mass promotion for recruitment; posts in the DFO forums (we have none atm), periodic messages in starter cities, and making REGULAR videos for youtube. (Something I could personally do, but no one wants to see only videos of Syloc playing)

And this is something we have to get on NOW. And I mean right at this moment, because the relaunch for the expansion will bring some people back to the game that are looking for a guild and if we miss this gravy train - then we'll miss the biggest opportunity to gather quality members.

We have not made any final decisions on which alliance to join.
Jetstar, Morlander and myself will be meeting with various Alliance leaders tonight for some Q&A. Once we have the information we need, I am sure Jet will make a post asking for our Members thoughts on the matter.

I understand about the "Zerg" issue. No one likes to be the ones that are shit talked. But the fact is almost every single alliance no matter the real size of it.. will call in others to assist outside their alliance and still be called a zerg.

as for the recruitment. I have some ideas that may help us bolster some numbers. If anyone else has ideas I welcome you to please let me know. As we grow in numbers, Jetstar and I will be looking to add on to our Recruitment team. If this maybe something your interested in, again PM me or Jet about it.
I'm just saying, i'd rather take a chance and build something ourselves, then jump into another alliance that has inept tacticans (like COTP) or just plain aholes (Goons); especially since we know nothing about them.

The playstyle of "follow the zerg" got old, and i'm tired of nutcupping tbh.

my2cents.
I changed my mind after read what you guys thought,
now I would prefer be with the zerg(red army), and play to crush in the beginning NA enterprise, will help recruitment, will be fun, like old times of CotC. I think will crumble(like CoTc ended) soon or later but will help the guild reestructure, and one of you guys come with idea to be on borderlands of the Red Army, I think will be good too, be on main Agon in the borderlands of Red Army with their support, and once again KGB could grow up. Join the Red Army and take Andruk by Force !!!
after last nights meetings, we have many options available to us. Jetstar will post these options upon Transfers. We have a lot to think about and our actions will affect others not just us.
