Sure, it's the game that got KGB where it is today, I hear it was raw for pvp, I'll give it a shot.

I've never played UO before, but I think that I've got some time to mess around. I'd give it a go it if means the we bring the guild together.

Not for me unfortunatly. Everytime I've got back to a really old game its destroyed the great memories I had of it. 9 years is a long long time in game terms.

If lots of KGB want to though and the early voteing suggests they do then its a great idea. Anything to keep KGB playing together till the next big thing comes along.

Afraid it doesn't appeal to me though sorry.

Why not just play on an established server?

This is harder than you think. You cannot just open up a server and expect to draw many people. Even long time servers like Angel's Island have minimal population (<100). It's really not fun to play without a decent pop.

I would suggest just playing UO Hybrid if you want your UO fix. One of the largest populations out there and it's easy to get 'into the game'. There is no anti movement there and lots of pks so we would be needed. I own a keep on that server too if you need to place to crash.

I just see a new server as a costly way of reinventing the wheel.

This is very wierd, but I had a strange UO dream just the other night. After I woke up, I thought about UO for quite a while, with a good dose of nostalgia, but then brushed the thoughts aside, thinking 'there is no going back now.'

I haven't thought of UO for years, but I have mentioned to some gamers that I work with how I thought UO was the best MMO I had ever played before Origin screwed it up so badly...

Right now I am playing WoW with these same friends from work, and am having a reasonably good time with my lvl 55 Warrior on Aggramar, but I am looking down the road to 60, and I am considering the equipment grind without much enthusiasm. I think that maybe some UO with my KGB buds might be just what I need.

Rather than a KGB server, I think Ryu might be right in that we may be better off going to an existing server where we can carve out a new kingdom. A KGB server would seem too much like our own personal sandbox - where is the challenge there? Since Ryu has a tower on Hybrid, that would give us a ready made base of operation.

I have missed game play with the KGB, but just was unable to stomach Shadowbane. I think some UO would be a great opportunity to reforge old bonds of friendship while we await a worth gaming successor.

Just made it back to san diego so i guess ill download the stuff again to play i believe i still have an account with bandit on hybrid so let me know when you guys are playing.

i think it would be alot better to jsut play hybrid it was fun before when a couple of us went there and i still got 5 houses and 4 accounts.

I have created a character there also named "Kram Eilsel". I plan on making other support toons there as well, as that is the best way to play UO. Kram was my main toon's name on Baja, but I may roll a main named "Taxman" instead. I plan on focusing on a warrior class (death by blades) for my primary.

I have a long history with UO, played it from launch until 2002 when I switch over to SWG, and now to WoW. I serverd about a year as a Counsellor even, before the program was dismantled by EA *grumble*. Currnently I play WoW on the Aggramar server with one of your esteemed members/senator Owain... cheers mate!

Look forward to joining you guys at UOG:Hybrid and hopefully joining KGB's ranks as well!!

To all my KGB buds, give a hearty hello to my old friend Taxman. We work together, and have played together in a number of games for several years now, such as BF1942 and WoW, and I have been talking up the KGB with him all that time, but we haven't had a game for him to participate with the KGB and apply for membership. I did talk him into coming over to WoW Archimonde and leveling up a character for the KGB there, but just as he hit lvl 40 and was ready to submit an application, KGB Archimonde went inactive. CRAP!

Now that we are coming back to UO, at least until something better comes along, I'm hoping that we get some good KGB participation so that when Tax puts in his application, he will be accepted into the KGB roles without delay - he's good folk.

I did UO from Beta to about 6-8 months after it went live. I honestly don't think I could ever go back to UO. I am so burned out on the whole online gaming thing it's not funny.

About the only game I might have considered returning to would have been ShadowBane. Though, being the very thorough person that I am, I wiped my characters before I left ShadowBane to keep me from returning :|

It's likely the only reason I'm not playing it again.

It's a sad state of affairs if NOTHING exists from the current time frame that KGB as a whole would be interested in. There's just nothing out there though. . . *sigh*

Looks like the consensus is that we will be doing UO on the Hybrid server. I think this might be a good time to start up KGB Public and Private UO forums, and start organizing.

My toon is already GM swords, and close to GM on Tactics, Anatamy, and Archery. Magic resist, as usual, is slow, and magery enough for at least recall is slow, but that is mostly because I haven't invested in the reagents yet. So, I'm about ready to start hunting bad guys. Lets get organised, and when Jet gets back, he'll find a bunch a fire eaters ready and waiting.

I think msn comes on by default, but I usually kill it so it doesn't suck up cpu cycles. If you give me your msn user name, I'll define one and see if we can't hook up. Lately I've been hanging around up in Yew building magic resist from the orc mages/liches/water elementals up there, but I can meet you wherever you like once we get coordinated.

I gm'd swords/tac/anat the old fashioned way by beating on orcs and ratmen. More profitable than sparring

UO may have an antique interface, but there are a bunch of murderin' bastards in there that desperately need killin'. That in itself ought to be enough for any KGB warrior!

And the beer isn't bad, either...

i've played alot of diff mmo's but still to me in the pvp aspect nothing compares to it and I haven't been back playing it for too long but it's been alot of fun

It's an interesting idea. There is no way it could rival 1998 UO in terms of community and strife, but it could be fun for some pen and paper style gameplay with a good DM.

Fact: UO is not 2d... it is actually a 3/4 perspective "sprite" based game. :-) Okay, so you are not looking over your toon's shoulder, or through their eyes. But the magery/swordplay/pvp action is still timeless today as it was almost 10 years ago! The client does have a "3D" that came out in the "Third Dawn" expansion, it is still 3/4 perspective but the models are polygons and rendered instead of sprite-based. You can play the game in either mode, but I prefer the sprite-based mode personally.

For those of you who have not ever played UO, there are no "factions" or reasons why you cannot attack anybody. In fact, you can (inadvertently) attack your own teammates in the heat of battle, so be careful with targeting okay?! :-) If you walk into town, you can attack anyone you see (normal players have blue names) - however this will "flag" you as a "grey" criminal (with a timer countdown) and you are open for anyone to kill without recourse. If you kill a "blue" player (remember grey and red's are open game) they can report you as a murderer and you will get a "count", once that count rises to a certain number you are a "red" player (red name) - and anyone can kill you without recourse anywhere in the game. When a player falls, they can be looted; completely and utterly naked if you want. To add insult the body can be "mutilated" and cut into parts.. heads collected/etc. There is no care-bear kiddy stuff in the UO:Hybrid server we are on, your life is in the hands of you and your guild mates' hands - not some silly faction ruleset.

Personally, I have been waiting for KGB to get together on something for a long time. I tried to get with your guys in WoW before, but you closed off there just as I was leveling my character to join your ranks. For the last few months it was appearing that I would have to wait until some "NEW/BETTER" game came out in order to do it, but this calling even a (currently) NON-KGB (hopefully member soon) has to answer!

This server is RIPE for KGB's calling, and there will be MANY-a-Red (murderous) bastard to feel the wrath! I hope to meet you all in-game there and fight by your side!

So if some guy who isn't even KGB (yet) yet is willing to take up his sword and fight beside your king and fellow members... what is YOUR excuse?

if i had 10 or 15 active guys on uo hybrid our presence would be on the map for sure

10 or 15 guys on intermittantly at odd times of the day and night is what we have now. I rarely see more than 3 or 4 guys at any one time. If we want to have 15 guys on consistantly most of the time, we'd need about 60 guys in the game.

I know right now I'm still fine tuning my skills, and haven't started getting ready for prime time with my armor set, weaps, pots, combat resupply bags, etc. I figure everyone else is in the same boat. Once people get more established, I hope we start scheduling hunts, and start to seriously lay the hammer down on the reds running rampant on Hybrid.

i am on everyday around kgb hq and so is kaly at night
we dont really ever see anyone around there but a few sporadic pop ups

pots can be had in the kgb hq tower they are there for anyone if they ever run out i can get on an account and make more.

i am working my mage up mostly when i am on since it's rather slow going
i think we should be posting an event or something for teh weekend to get everyone on to play

taxman owain has to pass along the vent information for you if you haven't gotten it yet it's an easier way to connect

Times have changed for me, and I think fondly about my time with all the great people I've played these amazing games with. But now, I am engaged, looking to buy a home and working on my career. I will never forget any of this and a part of me will always be with the community and fun of the games. So I live vicariously through the people who still play and take pride that I was part of a great time in online gaming, with such a great organization, and the magic it brought.

Goooood lord. And to think Raist I had a crush on your female character back like 6 years ago in UO:Pac. You seduced me into KGB with your perfect female pixelated ass. That sweet sweet ass.

Anyway... you turned out to be a guy playing a female so oh well. Speaking of making time for gaming though, you talk like you're done for good. That's just silly talk, especially since you still post on our boards, it's in your blood! It might be a few years but eventually you'll be able to make time for some empire building and PKing evil. And you know KGB will still be around... if you were in some lesser guild then yeah, a few years would be too long to wait, but not KGB; we'll be kicking ass for a very long time!

Ragter inspired me to play a G.I.R.L., Guy In Real Life to get what we wanted without macroing. Oh well, happy macro-mining!
