No one wants their PC to be a bot in a botnet nor infected with fake antivirus telling you to buy their product and they will "fix" (read remove their software) your infected PC. To many forms of malware running about with most being hybrid(s) (bot/worm/virus/root kit... combo).

Don't get me wrong analysis of 2008 showed that 78% of 400k infections (a small sample) originated from reputable legitimate site that had been compromised, using browser exploits and re-directions to malicious host. Your just as likely to get infected at JCP.com or SEARS.com as any porn site.
