We are at the start of the information age. As with any era transition before this, you have large populations of displaced people who are now effectively useless. Consequently, you have economy that only works for well-connected, mobile and smart people. You have decades of taxation policy that promotes meritocracy borderline on oligarchy above anything else.

Too many well-off people forgot our social contract and substituted supporting twitter causes for actual spreading the wealth. You can froth all you want at *-ism of the day, but Maslow's pyramid of needs will always take precedence.

The fact that this election hasn't been rigged should give all of us hope that we could still fix this. If Clinton couldn't rig general election, it is safe to assume that it couldn't be rigged. So this is a reminder to all of us that the republic gives one vote to everyone.
