It is a nice bargain and gives you a heck of a fleet to start with if you haven't gotten in yet, HOWEVER as Instrument put it, you only need the $45 dollar package to get into the game and have a starter ship, and we have several hundred empty seats to crew as is.

....BUT if your one of the several of us who do have a dozen ships or more, by melting a few ships (such as the Carrack I already had) and them buying that package, They essentially gave me an additional package and $200 dollars in store credit for FREE!!

When a package has several ships like this one does, you can individually upgrade the ships (known as CCU) to another one when its available. In my case I melted my Carrack and Hull E, bought the package, and immediately got my Carrack back via the package. And now I have 2 ships in the package I don't want. and can use towards other ships when they are available (such as using the $275 Constellation towards getting my Hull-E back.)
