Not in the beginning but overtime to release there will be a system in place to allow members to join multiple organizations including mercenary and merchant guilds (npc) as well as player run organizations.

Personally not a fan of multiple orgs, but we'll see how they handle it
Posted By: Tasorin Re: Good Info on Organizations! - 12/13/13 07:56 PM
You will be able to be a member of ONE Player Org and MANY NPC Orgs with the potential of Player Org "Faction Status" as you run and complete the player org driven missions, bounties and such.
Posted By: Hobbitlauncher Re: Good Info on Organizations! - 12/13/13 08:33 PM
That's not what the newest statement says at all, Tas. Unless I've derped supremely.

Previously they said one org only (the way it should be, imo)

Now they said there is no limit, so you can join player and NPC orgs at will - the distinction with player orgs is that they can set rules. So some would have rules (like KGB if it is an official faction) prohibiting other player-org membership, but that is not the case universally.
Posted By: Zhou Re: Good Info on Organizations! - 12/13/13 10:30 PM
Could be interpret either way but it seems more likely that they mean in a player group along with multiple NYC structures.

Could be wrong.

I specifically asked this question in the Subscribers Den as part of my 3 questions a month. Now, take this answer with a grain of salt, because right now the design and game mechanics are still fluid.

A single citizen, not account, can ascribe to a single player organization. Meaning if you have multiple characters on a single account, you can technically ascribe to multiple player orgs, but your "account id" is still in effect for all characters under a single account.

A single citizen, not account, can ascribe to as many NPC organizations as they choose. Some will be diametrically opposed, so that membership in the "Fire Org" will deny you access to the "Ice Org".

As it stands now, individual citizens will be able to "earn reputation" with both NPC and other player organizations by completing the standard fair of typical missions like shipping, bounty, escort and the such.

CIG would also like to see Player Org to Player Org "reputation" as a measure of alliances before stating how any "War" or "Alliance" system would work ingame for player created organizations.

This is where the NPC and PC "Jobs Board" comes into play similar to Freelancer and Privateer where at "Bars" you could pick up missions off the local system jobs board.

I want to know what Jet plans for KGB, what archetype organization will KGB fit into? PMC seems most likely.

We are discussing when I return. Obviously this game will require an incredibly active and effective GSS.

Yes and No. The only real assets to loose in the Open Verse are ships, cargo and mods. There shouldn't be any or very little of "Player Controlled" hard assets akin to a City in a traditional MMO. That being said, passive intel gathering will be at a premium for Player hunter organizations looking to raid your people. This is where your specific system location and "hunting grounds" come into play for both commerce and PvE activity.

Right now persistent assets that can't be "put away" are limited to Ships to large to land on or unable to land on a planet. There is talk of sprinkling in some small outpost style space ports to be fought over, but who knows yet what live release will hold.
Posted By: Zhou Re: Good Info on Organizations! - 12/31/13 01:03 PM
Well with the amount of funding I expect at some point some controlled assets to fight over. Chris mentioned it at some point. Being able to know we're the larger pirate guilds operate will be beneficial to raid them like you said. It will be a big universe to search.
Posted By: Hobbitlauncher Re: Good Info on Organizations! - 12/31/13 02:09 PM
It also helps you know when and where groups are operating in order to maximize the "random" chance of running into a POI or a target.

Also, by not needing to know a massive group's individual names, you can POI the GSS agent and have roughly the same chance at intercepting (It isn't clear, but if their group has multiple people on our POI the chance of interception is increased?

Providing asset protection for supply routes or convoys would be a nice niche to fill, consequently developing PDF (planetary defense forces) or capital fleet based operations for small developing factions would be ideal

This is actually where the player drive "Jobs Board" comes in and why Citizens will be able to post "Missions" or "Jobs" for other Citizens to take and fulfill.

Freelancer and Privateer had this in the Bars that were driven by the AI as part of the mascaraed of infinite replay. Instancing is going to make the traditional "White Knight" role more of a "Bounty Hunter" and "Escort" role.

the organization system will be out before the DFM or before then end of this month according to WM
A Alpha of the system is already being tested by chosen players

so we need to get this all sorted in 2 weeks :)
Posted By: Zhou Re: Good Info on Organizations! - 01/11/14 11:01 PM
Most is already sorted out. Just a few more details need to be discussed with Jet. As far as the creation is concerned I'll be taking care of most of the stuff involved.

CIG is quickly going down the Immersion Monkey/Carebear path and the above statement has already caused a lot of gnashing of teeth between the small group of bitch ass WoW Lollipop Forest Dev's that don't want the hardcore PvP Clans to have any influence.

Essentially my expectations for this title are diminishing for a PvP quasi Sandbox and quickly turning into expecting to see true open PvP reduced to outland systems and the Arena.

Fucking carebears. I wish I could round them all up, put them of an Ark, and light that son of a bitch of fire.
Posted By: Zhou Re: Good Info on Organizations! - 01/13/14 07:51 PM
I wasn't to impressed with Chris Roberts answer on matchmaking for instances. Using pvp no pvp as a means to seperate individuals. I expect the UEE system to be completely carebear. I only hope that the lawless sector is large and populated. What's the point of all these military ships if they intend to limit pvp. Arena won't be enough.

Posted By: Drakiis Re: Good Info on Organizations! - 01/13/14 10:24 PM
Like I always say when it concerns instanced pvp arenas, "It's like a knife fight in a phone booth, where nobody wins". Arena combat is NOT pvp, and for some unexplainable reason game development always seems to mistakenly classify pvp as arena combat. The roots of pvp have always been defined as open world class/clan warfare. From my understanding of the feature, it always comes down to whether the devs want to reap in loads of cash with arena combat, or take their chances and roll the dice with open sandbox type pvp. They usually opt for arenas because it makes the game more accessible for the masses and thus more profitable.
Posted By: Hobbitlauncher Re: Good Info on Organizations! - 01/13/14 10:26 PM
^

Arenas are dumb. There's a reason that while battlegrounds in WoW caused a lot of new accounts to be created, quite a few LEFT because open world PVP all but died. (and their leaving solidified it)

I'm very very concerned about some of this, but I've already pledged way too much to give up, and even if it is just EVE with real piloting, it's still going to be something enjoyable.
Posted By: Zhou Re: Good Info on Organizations! - 01/13/14 10:41 PM
Arenas will do no justice you can't take your Bengal carrier in the arena fully manned since it's not a hangar ship. Or what about an idris with its 2-3 ships docked in the idris can't go into an arena like that. They need to alter some needs to satisfy the pvp crowd as well to some extent. My idris is looking for a real fight.
Posted By: Tasorin Re: Good Info on Organizations! - 01/14/14 04:00 PM
This is why I continue to fight the horde of bitch ass Carebears in the Subscribers Den who want the Lollipop Forest on a silver platter. Fortunately I am not the only one in the vocal minority and in general there are some hardcore open PvP pew-pew to the face dev's encamped in the CIG core.

I fully expect and am willing to accept that High Security areas that are heavily patrolled by the UEE and Civilian System Defense Forces to be largely a high risk suicide mission to start open protracted PvP in an System instance.

That being said, I have seen the Star Map for the PU and the UEE space described above only incorporates about 15-20% of the planned systems. I would say that the non-human races combined were as much or not more in as far as "controlled" space. That leaves about ~50% of the PU as unexplored and effectively lawless. What we have been pushing for is the ability to have the Alien controlled spaces conducive to "High Danger" systems where PvP and PvE are a very high probability.

Pay the 5 bucks a month for the base "Sub" and post to the Subscribers Den. I have had much more response from CIG since I subbed my main alt account as it seems the Community/Dev teams from CIG pay a little more attention to the trends in that sub forum.

TL;DR - Get your Meta on.
