Since we have a lot of people coming back from various nether regions of the interweb i thought it would be a good idea to get a handle on people play style.
Drak started a thread similar but it did not take off the way he was hoping for.
So in order to try to get early organization going post your preferred play style in this simple format.
Static(tank,heals,arch, etc etc...)
Hybrid(tank/mage, tank/healer etc etc...)
In service to KGB
To me it entirely depends on the game much of the time, and entirely on my mood the rest of the time.
i gave played a few diff styles myself as for character build im strongly considering a pure mage nuker type preferably with buffs for group members as well as the ability to be a healer in combat.
without the knowledge of skill caps and what not its still to early to be sure but i tend to stick with casters in the last 8 yrs or so.
my years in ultima where spent as a fencer tank type with minimal magery but since then i have really stuck with casters.
I will probably be playing a tank/healer as my main. I hardly ever play healers...but I'm going to need to stay alive..soo..eh...arg?
Other than that..I'll go with some ranged DPS type toon.
Hybrid build always for me. I'll build for maximum burst damage and survivability via escape. However Darkfall presents us those options remains to be seen.
It's hard to say until we take a look at the actual game mechanics, but if it is a worth successor to UO, I'd say hybrid. I usually play melee types, but some degree of spell casting was just too useful to pass up in UO. I suspect it will be the same in Darkfall.
I usually go a "style" pathway. Find out the reason your character exists and then build the skills around them to make that happen. So I usually end up with specialists with some heavy support skills to help the main skills along.
i.e. My GM crafter in UO was a GM mage to support the crafting. What? You want my green ore? Lets see how you like some GM style magic up your wazzoo
I will probably go hybrid if possible. Tank/mage
I don't care anymore I just want to play
hybrid healer/tank/rangeddps/snare/stealth/blacksmith/heals/necro-fire-ice/blood/sweat/tears
ie. everything !!
At first propably Tank/healer as I am sure there will be some form of magic reagants, which means it will cost a lot to be a decent mage. Depending on how it is set up of course I will focus on raising my strength and warrior type skills and then go from there. Ultimately I would like to be a pure mage.
If we are only allowed one char ber server which has been talked about though, I will take one for the team and be purely a crafter. I am hoping that crafting skills won't count towards the cap of fighting skills, if they end up going with the 1 player per account deal. My gut feeling says that won't work though and they will give us at least room for 2 alts.
Not too sure TBH.
I usually go static mage because that's all games allow.
Depending the kinds of penalties I get to equipping say... Leather, or using a sword though, I may go partially hybrid battle mage.
Eval Int, Corp Por, Corp Por, Corp Por - bye bye

Neither Tank or Hybrid. Just Crimthan.
I thought we was gonna be a titan crew donk!!! Warlord, WarHound, Reaver or Emporer class???
I like the warhound class, but I'd rather be a chaplain with a crozius and a power fist.
Dynamic-static Ranger and/or Assassin build, hunter stalker
!
o lootz, if only they would let us pilot a titan. i would settle just to be a dreadnought though in the event that titans arent allowed.
Mk IV, Furioso, Venerable, or the new Iron Clad varients?
The Mk IV's are more versitile, the Furioso patterns were replaced with Iron Clads which have better armor now, but the Venerable's have better WS/BS then all three.
Again, it's always hard to tell until we see the game.. but in SB, it seemed to me that hybrid is where the strength is. Flexibility in combat is king... plus, it can simply be more fun to play. I hate playing casters or healers, but I loved playing my Confessor.
Regardless of what you play...EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE A HEAL BUTTON!!!!!!!!

i cant argue with that
No one can, hence AoC's healer dominance...well..pre gameruining that is.
I'm with Poo, only with a slight variant. Pirate/Healer. Arrrggghhh
doh, my button just says "Hurt"
