We need to start thinking of races and spec crews to start with as most of you know the entire gaming world hates us so if we think we can just show up at KGB on darkfall and have a walk in the park we got another thing coming. We should all be studying everything we can about the game on stratics on the boards and coming up with a starting crew and a no nonsense approach to gaining a foothold and a town asap.. has any though toward this end been discussed? If not lets make this tread toward that end..
Ubes
Human...going for as much melee damage output as possible - using a Halberd - that's with Crimthan.
Human, most likely some sort of fire mage, electric if possible.
tank mage if its possible to make hybrids i dunno yet honestly.
I'll pick something to test once beta starts.
Honestly until the real numbers start coming out, any speculation is useless. Some people have things they play simply because they like them, like Crim and his Hallys which is cool but for alot of us its impossible to say untill we get a better idea of game mechanics/balance.
The bigger issues to me are which organizational and structural in nature, whether/how/how much to recruit, etc.
i have to play a guy that is easy to play like a healer, so I don't have to do mouse gymnastics but just can click the heal button every 1.23 seconds even if my opponent is running circles around me
but as far as race either an elf or something manly and hairy, no girl icons for me !! (elf because my name !!)
I usually like the role of a hunter/ranger with archery as a primary form of attacking.
Agreed. It might be fun to throw around ideas about races, classes, starting locations, which island to call "KGB Land". etc. but it's all just for enterainment purposes since only when beta starts and people start collecting data will we know what classes / skill combos are best.
Something we can be pretty sure of is, unlike WoW, we dont have to pick 5 people to be "tanks" 5 to be "healers" 5 to be "damage dealers". In games like WoW, guilds that pre set up classes like that do indeed get a nice head start on other guilds. But Darkfall wont be about mob grinding, or groups killing 1 giant mob with 1 tank taking all the damage while 10 priests heal him. So I believe we can allow KGB to just walk into the game choosing any skills they wish. Atleast for beta, maybe by time final rolls out we will be able to post on our boards saying: we need 15% of our people to be mage types with magic healing, 50% to be melee types with first aid skills, 30% to be stealthers, and 5% to be 8 x GMs in skills like leadership, diplomat, merchant, etc.
Derid is completely right here. There is no way we can come up with "spec" groups untill we have tasted beta. So thinking about organizational structure is the best way to go right now.
Human sword/shield/full-plate on a big horse to charge. With some heal and buff spells.
Maybe a little archery to deal with kitters.
no offense but race/skill and any sort of starting location is useless atm.
like ZOMG i read in teh lore that theres ub3r mines east of teh human city of seattle.
it doesn't matter what you read. i'd like to see the mechanics of their clan system and structure and hope its advanced as they say it is. also more importantly the games economics and really hope it supports micro economies so when you travel from region to region you can see the difference in prices and play into the worlds macro. no universal banks needed.
If it crafts and swings a kryss I'm there...
Crafting yes, Kryss... haven't seen any mention of that weapon yet
I believe that was the one weapon that every game has that they felt needed to be left out so that DF would be different.
That's what it'll say on the cover of the box at retail, "We're not a WoW clone, we Don't have Kryssesss."
I thought kryss was something to put in a salad ?
I thought that was pronounced "Sshhwwwwiiiinnnggg", or are we talking about different weapons, here?
I shall pwn you all with my dp kryss of doom
