Did someone tell the Moral Majority yet?

Really?

So while all men are created equal, fags don't count as men?

Both those candidates have come out and taken a position on the topic. Both have cited there reasons. Both have claimed the moral high ground of being Christians.

Don't blame me when 1 + 1 = 2

What the hell are you talking about?
Posted By: Helemoto Re: REPUBLICANS - 09/25/11 05:47 PM
I have never been told in church that Jesus was a white guy who hated fags.
We are told that marriage is between a man and a woman, this is the opinion of the church and there is nothing wrong with a group having an opinion.

As a fact of point I personally believe that "the gays" should have the same rights as the morons like me to get married.

Continuing to blame the churches that have a opinion that doesn't agree with you is stupid, its not the church that gives out marriage licenses, and they don't have to preform the service to anyone they don't to, welcome to America and freedom of choice.
You should be mad at the politicians that do not allow the feds to recognize it. As you know several states have passed gay marriage laws.

As for the sign he is brown skinned,we have cameras, he is anti-war he just cant get out of it the way he said he would cause he didn't realize that the presidents job was a lot tougher the a community organizer, and he is a socialist, if you don't think he is then you are one also.

As for Jesus he was most likely brown skinned, they didn't have cameras back then but the church says he was, Jesus is for peace but he also promised to come back with a sword and divide and conquer, when you have the healing power of God its easy to give free health care.

First of all, take a look at this image search:

http://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1CHFX...63&bih=1164

I have never seen a rendition of Jesus as another other than white. If you have, then it is in the serious minority.

This is a very interesting read:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depiction_of_Jesus

In reality, there are no surviving pictures of Jesus, so this is in reality a complete fabrication, yet people worship these false images regularly. I see these images in every religious building I have ever seen.

As far as hating gays goes, here is another interesting image gallery:

Certainly the all powerful god would NEVER allow anyone to mislead people as to his true beliefs.

Here are the specific references to homosexuality in the bible. They are pretty clear:
Quote:
Genesis

"And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him."
What did Ham do? Did he just look at his naked father or was there something more to it than that? Some commentators have suggested that Ham committed homosexual rape on his drunken father, and that this was why Ham's descendants were eternally punished with slavery. 9:24
This verse doesn't say what the Sodomites did to make them such exceedingly great sinners, though most bible believers equate "Sodomite" with homosexual. (But see Ezekiel 16:49, which claims the sins of Sodom were pride, gluttony, sloth, greed, and failure to help the poor.) 13:13
The two angels that visit Lot wash their feet, eat, and are sexually irresistible to Sodomites. 19:1-5
God kills everyone in Sodom and Gomorrah. 19:4-5, 24-25
What did Sarah see? 21:9
Leviticus

Homosexual acts are an abomination to God. 18:22
If a man has sex with another man, kill them both. 20:13
Deuteronomy

Women are not to wear men's clothing -- it's an "abomination unto the Lord." 22:5
God says not be bring any whore, sodomite, or dog into the house of the Lord. For "these things are an abomination to the Lord." Sodomites and dogs are biblical names for homosexuals. 23:17-18
1 Samuel

Saul is angered by his son's homosexual affair with David and says, "do not I know that thou has chosen the son of Jesse to thine own confusion of thy mother's nakedness?" 20:30
Saul sets an example for Christian parents that discover that they have a homosexual child: try to kill the child and his or her lover. 20:31-33
1 Kings

"There were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations...."
God shows his homophobia by calling gay people "sodomites" and their sexual relations "abominations." 14:24
Asa "did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD" by expelling homosexuals (or "sodomites", as the good book calls them). 15:12
Jehoshaphat "did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord" and "took" the homosexuals (sodomites) "out of the land," or as the RSV says, "he exterminated" them. 22:43, 46
2 Kings

Josiah, with God's approval, broke down the houses of the sodomites. 23:7
Isaiah

"They declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul!"
The biblical god just doesn't seem to care much for homosexuals. And he gets especially upset when "they hide it not." 3:9
Daniel

"Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all."
Some Christians think this refers to the antichrist. (He'll be an atheist homosexual.) 11:37
Romans

With his usual intolerance, Paul condemns homosexuals (including lesbians). This is the only clear reference to lesbians in the Bible. 1:26-28
Homosexuals (those "without natural affection") and their supporters (those "that have pleasure in them") are "worthy of death." 1:31-32
1 Corinthians

Paul lists ten things that will keep you out of heaven, including homosexuality and being "effeminate." 6:9-10
1 Timothy

Homosexuals (those "that defile themselves with mankind") are included on the list of lawless, disobedient, unholy, and profane people. 1:10
2 Timothy

Iin the last days people will become evil, "without natural affection." Fundamentalist say that this refers to homosexuals. 3:3
Jude

God sent "eternal fire" on the people of Sodom and Gomorrah for "going after strange flesh." 7-8
Revelation

"Dogs [homosexuals?], sorcerers, whoremongers, idolaters" and along with anyone who ever told a lie will not enter the heavenly city. 22:15

It really bothers me that people pick and choose what versus of the bible to live by. This is why I have such a HUGE problem with religion in general.

The bible came from writings that were compiled more than 100 years old when they were reviewed by man, and man alone decided what to keep in and what to purge. Clearly to me, this is the work of man, by man, in order to control the masses.

Now science cannot explain everything, and I have an open mind and have experienced things that we cannot explain, but anyone who asks me for money, and then claims that I will burn in hell for all eternity if I do not believe and support their opinion, is less that godly.

What in the hell are you going on about? I am confused by your changing focus. Are you going on about Jesus, gays, or what? The concept of gay marriage is a ridiculous notion, one which is simply the basis for an entitled mentality. I could give a shit less who declares themselves married, who stands in front of a judge or a minister and has the words said, or jumps a broom or any of the other 9000 things that are done to decide that this person and that person should only be fucking each other till death they do part. What I care about is a pathetic polical organization who puts forth their own agenda behind the guise of discrimination, using that since it is powerful and normally wins the day. I find the waste of energy and money over the very concept offensive. Just as offensive as I find any organization whose agenda is designed to provide that organization benefits above all others. Name it..ACLU, NRA, NAACP, UAW, and the thousands of others, whose only purpose is to get there way at the expense of all others, that is what I have issue with.

At the core of those things are the various politicians who are bought and paid for by those organizations. I am not even 100% sure that Ron Paul could claim distance from any of them, but I think he might be the only one who comes close.

And not sure what your going on about Jet. Did this turn completly religious?

Religion is a huge joke, perpetrated on mankind by men to control and enslave, whether that be physical or mental. I have no idea if God exists, but I do believe in a higher power. That is NOT compounded by some religious dogma. My god, there are about 265 recognized religions in the world, and in Christianity alone there are over 30,000 different sects, all of which think they are right. Give me a fucking break.

But I can say with absolute certainty that more wars, more hate and more mass killing has occured in the name of whose God is greater than any other force in the history of man.

It's in the bible that a man should NOT lay with another man. So if you don't believe in the bible then why in fuck's sake does it make a shit to you?

As Helemoto said, Churchs don't give out the marriage licenses. So...maybe one should go to their congressman or congresswoman and ask them what the problem is.

I am simply quoting the bible, and saying that Christians claim they are tolerant. Now I am not claiming you are tolerant, so not speaking for you, but you cant have it both ways. You cant just believe in "some" of the bible. If people claim to be Christians, then follow it by the numbers.

I mean here is some lovelies straight out of the book itself. The versus are included for you reference. The list of cruelty and intolerance is so long it is bigger than the allotted message size, so I am pick some specifics from one book as an example:

Quote:
Exodus
God decides to kill Moses because his son had not yet been circumcised. 4:24-26
God will kill the Egyptian children to show that he puts "a difference between the Egyptians and Israel." 11:7
If you do what God says, he won't send his diseases on you (like he did to the Egyptians). But otherwise.... 15:26
The first commandment ("Thou shalt have no other gods before me.") condemns those who worship any other than the biblical god. 20:3
"Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." Thousands of innocent women have suffered excruciating deaths because of this verse. 22:18
"He who sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed." If this commandment is obeyed, then the four billion people who do not believe in the biblical god must be killed. 22:20
Don't even mention the names of the other gods. 23:13
Do not allow others to worship a different god. Conquer them and destroy their religious property. 23:24
Stay away from those who worship a different god. 23:32
Don't let any strangers attend your animal sacrifices. 29:33
Those who break the Sabbath are to be executed. 31:14
Whoever works, or even kindles a fire, on the Sabbath "shall be put to death." 35:2-3

Isn't today the Sabbath? Doesn't that mean that you are.......

You are the intolerant one is seems, if you cant tolerate people who are religious.

As far as the Catholic Church you have no idea what they teach these days, your ignorance is compounding daily.

They teach that the bible was written by men who didn't have the scientific knowledge to explain properly, and the morals of the times are not what is typical of modern times, old more so then the new.

You seem to either watch 80 year old movies and crack pots that claim to speak for all.

We get it your not a believer, why cant you accept that others are, I could careless if you do or don't.
As for pick and chose bible verses you only pick and choose the ones you want.

The Hell is not one of brimstone and fire it is the afterlife without Jesus.

Sabbath is Saturday not Sunday, as Sunday is the first day of the week. Even so the Jews are more into the old testament then the Christians. The crazys are old school like the guys in Kansas.

I'm not currently religious, although I'm pretty sure there is some higher power or God, but I grew up in a very religious household. As such I can tell you that Christians believe that anything in the New Testament which contradicts something in the Old Testament overrides the Old. So, what your postings tell me is that you don't have a problem with Christians (I'm not counting the Westboro nut jobs because they are NOT Christians) you have a problem with Jews and Muslims as they are the only ones who hold to the Old Testament teachings over the New.

Clearly you've never walked into a black church, where Jesus is depicted as a black man. Humans are visual creatures and they want to believe that their God is like them. If you believe in the Bible then you believe that humans are created in God's image, so if humans are so varied why can't God have multiple images?
P.S. I believe everything I read on wikipedia...

Everyone of your "hating gays" images are from those horrible people at Westboro Baptist church. If there is a hell there is a special place in it for those people.

There is a difference between tolerance and indifference. If I'm tolerant of your behavior I can still disagree with it or believe that it is wrong, but I don't physically lash out at you to prevent you from doing it. I can however, still speak out against your behavior. I believe that right is mine via the 1st amendment. Indifference means I don't give a shit one way or the other what you do. I think when you refer to tolerance you actually mean indifference.

Anyone who asks you for money and claims that you will burn in hell if you don't fork it over is clearly a charlatan and greedy bastard who is giving Christianity a bad name. The tolerance of Christians keeps them from beating the shit out of trash like that...

Wrong again Hoss. I was raised Irish Catholic.

I am not intolerant, in fact, people are free to believe what they want. I am not the one trying to keep anyone from anything unlike the Catholic faith, who's organization protects child molesters, and wants to keep Africans from life saving birth control (Yes, condoms prevent aids).

Those statements ARE in the bible, and all christian religion's say the bible IS the word of god. Perhaps you need a refresher on your own religion. You cannot defend them, so you simple ignore them and pick and choose what verses to honor.

I became so disgusted with the church that it drove me from it.

Assuming that I don't know what I am talking about, or that you know my past is ignorant.

I even challenged anyone who believes to solve my problems with religion in another thread. I was sincere, and I hope you can understand the paradox that I face.

Despite how much we may not agree, or how far we are from each other on these issues, I consider you all friends and welcome the differing opinions.

The bible is a selection of some books written more than 100 years after the death of Jesus to please some roman emperor. I can't understand how some people think that is godly.

Take the 10 commandments or to summarize them "don't do to others what you would not like done unto you" and be done.

Notice I said "Christians" and not "Catholics".

Born, raised, educated, and still a practicing Catholic. The differentiation has always been made between the two. Most Catholics don't call themselves Christians, because most Christians are well, Christians, and not Catholics.

You don't see Catholics on the political trail expounding the ideological crap coming out of the Moral Majority Right/GOP circus. As a matter of fact up until Kennedy, being a Catholic and not a Christian, use to be a guarantee that you would never be voted in as President of the United States of America. The thinking at the time was that Catholics answered to the Holy Roman Church (ie the Pope) and not to the needs of the American people.

Funny how times change, but the underlying destructive nature of Power still rings true. And that is what this is all about, old school Power.
