Boy, those solar panels are going to be a real hot item. Oh Wait...
http://www.newson6.com/story/15378048/congress-investigates-solar-company-tied-to-tulsa-billionaire

Quote:
Congress is investigating how Solyndra received the federal loan, but taxpayers may be responsible for repaying it, if the company can't.

According to its web site, Solyndra was founded in 2005 and manufactures rooftop solar panels in a state-of-the-art facility near San Francisco.

Hot diggity damn... work harder fuckers, we're going to have to re-pay this shit. It's a good thing those Solar Panels are so efficient and cost effective! /sarcasm

What your story leaves out is that they got over $500 million more from private investors, like your Tulsa guy Kaiser, so the real question is, how does a company manage to go belly up in 6 years, after receiving more than $1 billion in investments? Officially the CEO says that the they cannot compete in the world market with the regulations and restrictions imposed by the U.S. government. Congratulations to the U.S.G for helping the Chinese get their hands on all our patents...

Also a man by the name of T.Boone Pickens spent a lot of money on Solar and wind energy. The solar thing hasn't panned out, but his wind turbine investment is decent, because he has convinced some of the policital officials here in Oklahoma to buy into it. T.Boone Pickens could probably be the Governor here if he wanted to. He's given so much money to Oklahoma State University that it's almost mind blowing they aren't any better than they are in Sports. His Donations alone built the sports complex on OSU campus. BILLIONS he's given.

It has more to do with the fact China's manufacturing plants don't have to care about the environment: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/03/08/AR2008030802595.html

Yes, manufacturing solar panel is a big pollution source. And also, enjoy being lead poisoned by all those batteries http://www.upi.com/Science_News/2011/08/...81811314829387/
