Well X-mas is near and I may buy my kid a laptop.

What I need to know is should I buy the 64 bit or the 32 bit.

I see most come with windows 7.

If anyone can help please feel free to respond.

I have the 64-bit version.
The only purpose I have for it is to be able to recognize all my ram. Someone else will have to post with more specific details as I only use it for that purpose.

The RAM recognition above 3.5g is the BIG reason for 64bit.

64 Bit all the way.

Processing power
Ram Recognition
Board Architecture
North Bridge 64 Bit > 32 Bit

The only thing I can say negative up till now about 64 Bit is that early adopters kinda got screwed with support for those systems. That is not true so much anymore. Secondly, I personally am a big proponent of "clean" and "constant" power coming in off the rails of the power supply. This is more important in a 64 Bit machine over a 32 Bit machine. A marginal power supply is not a deal breaker, but like I said me personally, am willing to spend up to get the more robust configuration.

I have a quad core with 8gb ram using Vista. I run two clients of Darkfall, Vent, Windows Media Player and usually Firefox on it at 32% CPU usage and 40% ram usage. I could only be doing this on a 64bit.

GET 64 BIT!!!!!

Ok

Thanks for the response.

Now I know why that sig made me crazy now that I took the time to look at her face. The girl in the pink looks like a girl I dated in the 80's.
