We have a wifi connection at work now, it is in a shopping mall, we have palm pilots that run on the wifi for our daily duties, you can also connect to the wifi using ipones, and computers but they want you to pay a monthly fee for using the service, my question, is there a way to get around paying that monthly fee and in around about way hack into the wifi signal.

all you need is the encription key to log onto that secured broadcast

where can I get encription key from?

If its been set up for your Palm then just call up the IT guy say it got wiped and get the info from him.

When you go to connect to that particular signal it will pop up asking for the encryption key just punch it in there and you are done.

If they have any snap, they will have locked down that Wi-Fi access point
to allow only devices with IP X or MAC address Y.
( Or both )
Along with a fairly lengthy WPA key.

They can also ( depending on the router ) limit any
outside net access to particular devices only, during
specific times of day, or disallow it all together.

If their IT folks are watching the firewall, they will be able to spot your NIC card
pretty quickly since it will stand out like a Christian in Iran

Don't get fired over something like this

I work as a security supervisor at the shopping mall, the WiFi is for our palm pilots we have to do daily functions on, and also they have set it up so you have to pay a monthly fee of 20 bucks to use the wifi in the mall, I really do not think they have IT people since everytime a computer breaks they send it off to get fixed. Who knows I just do not want to pay the 20.00 amonth

Ok.

Just realize a MAC address from a laptop will stand out pretty well in a sea of Mac addresses that are all
Palm Pilots and IPhones.
