What game will you definately be playing when it comes out?
Posted By: BoSllBibliotequa Re: The NEXT game for KGB? - 05/22/07 02:34 PM
ROFL at the results, all the other games sound ok, but not without giving them a test through trials or betas.
Posted By: Owain Re: The NEXT game for KGB? - 05/22/07 03:55 PM
I don't really know anything about future games other than AOC and DF, so if someone who has been following things can give a thumbnail description of the others, that would be great.
Posted By: ZoneOni Re: The NEXT game for KGB? - 05/22/07 04:58 PM
i think we should all go and give o2jam a hard go, lol
aoc sounds nice and i mean nice in a creamy goodness type of birds chirping in the sunrise as clouds suffocate our visions of the cool and heartwarming breeze that flows through the skin till the end of our fingernails and we forget we are alive and seem to fall in a dream like sleep, . only if they have a really sweet buffing cleric class.

I'm dead sick of games with leveling systems... Leveling = grinding = no casual play = burning out. LAME!
Posted By: Awastatyme Re: The NEXT game for KGB? - 05/22/07 07:40 PM
But all games have some sort of leveling to it. Like in the uo back in the day i spent hours at the BK room with tons of ppl to gain swords and then at the roting corpse room doing the same, If thats not grinding i dont know what is.

Darkfall - im not even gonna bother. I prefer to call it forumfall
Posted By: Elph Re: The NEXT game for KGB? - 05/22/07 07:44 PM
i voted for warhammer
a little hesitant to bother with it now that EA is part of Mythic but it's a game I have been watching for awhile.
Posted By: Twisted_Date Re: The NEXT game for KGB? - 05/22/07 07:56 PM
so does this mean your all quitting VG?
Posted By: Slinger Re: The NEXT game for KGB? - 05/22/07 08:04 PM
Vanguard stands as the tool we're using to reunite any inactive members we can before a real games comes out, in my opinion.

And Ehonda, UO had its grind, but if you didn't have 7x it didn't mean you couldn't go out and hunt with people who were 7x because you were way out of their level range...
Posted By: Crimthan Re: The NEXT game for KGB? - 05/22/07 08:39 PM
I looked at Gods and Heroes before, but noticed no siege battles or territory was mentioned. Age of Conan is currently tying Darkfall. AOC will have seige battles and there *will* be a FFA PVP server or something very close to it. The fact that it's Rated M for Mature says a lot of Good things about the game for me. Extreme violence, moderate nudity, violent themes, language, perspectives, and alcohol, etc. Remember, it's based on the world of Conan. If you've read the books, then you know any inkling about "PC" is thrown right out the window...and IMO, GOOD. Aside from overt racism, PC in a fantasy game is an oxymoron.
Posted By: Owain Re: The NEXT game for KGB? - 05/22/07 08:57 PM
Actually, the Gods and Heroes:Rome Rising looks kind of interesting. The main site is blocked here at work, so I can't tell what character classes, if any, there will be. Is this an all melee/no magic game? If so, like I mentioned in another thread about how cool a game based on 300 era Greece would be, this would be the next best thing.

I have to read up on it more when I get home...
Posted By: Crimthan Re: The NEXT game for KGB? - 05/22/07 09:50 PM
Yap, just like most FPS have people with varying degrees of firepower, but nothing dramatically different than the next; so too, would it be nice to play a game with a variety of melee based classes. Probably be a VERY balanced game as well, just like most FPS games.
Posted By: Elph Re: The NEXT game for KGB? - 05/23/07 12:29 AM
Twist we're all still in VG all of these games are in beta phases or not even in beta.
Posted By: Taxman Re: The NEXT game for KGB? - 05/23/07 07:38 AM
"Gods and Heroes" and "The Cronicles of Spellborn" sound the best to me, although they need to talk more about the PVP aspect of it before I would know for sure.
Posted By: Raekwon Re: The NEXT game for KGB? - 05/23/07 10:10 AM
Elph is looking for the upgraded version of DAoC... and i agree that would indeed be Warhammer online. Realm fighting instead of FFA.

As for myself, I expect AoC to be out in final version 6+ months before Darkfall. Which works perfect, AoC to me seems like it will be an awesome change of pace and great for KGB for atleast 6 months. But I believe AoC will lack the truly long term playability and empire building KGB desires, it has those things but not in the complexity and beauty that Darkfall is expected to have. So as AoC begins to become just another MMO that we keep laying just because... that's when Darkfall will come out and we can move there as a guild and claim our empire.
Posted By: Crimthan Re: The NEXT game for KGB? - 05/23/07 03:01 PM
I hated DAOC. Realm warfare was too linear, the gameplay was subpar IMO, and they totally raped the name of Camelot, King Arthur, etc. Really pissed me off, just like LOTRO is currently doing. Leveling in Daoc was a pain in the ass after 18, unless of course, you did what everyone else did - buy another account and use a buff bot. How lame is that...
On the other hand AOC is staying TRUE to the World of Conan by keeping it a Mature rating and including all the grim warrior themes of the books written by Robert E. Howard back in the 1930s.

I'm in beta of Chronicles of Spellborn. Think WOW graphics but better. Lots of bugs where if you click on some choices, you CTD. I LOVE the fact that you pick your look, abilities, and weapon types/armor from the getgo and your attacks are based on abilities, NOT weapon stats. That makes that game the least itemcentric out of any game I played, and believe it or not - it works. Instead you're relying on the skill of knowing when to use what ability.

Problem with DFO is that I don't think they have a big enough design team to fully realize the scope of their vision. In that regard it wouldn't surprise me if AOC does end up having more all around content and choices in the long run. However, if DFO can live up to the dreams of its designers, it will be the end all be all of a class-less MMO.

Yap, good stuff. I made a post about that in the KGB members gaming forums.
Posted By: Slinger Re: The NEXT game for KGB? - 05/26/07 02:19 AM
Thrones of Chaos! Except it looks more like vaporware than DFO does. It offers a lot of what DFO offers, but your characters also age, have offspring, and die, which is where you take over the character your offspring has become. So you when your toon dies your child will be even better at doing what your original character did (ie, the child of a blacksmith would have a natural knack for blacksmithing and could raise it faster and higher).

Their website isn't even up right now, so I wouldn't put any money on it, but the concept is all there. I alpha tested it before they changed their name to Mourning, and then eventually Thrones of Chaos (originally Realms of Torment) and I was too lame to stick with it (I was looking to test a finished product, and it was really bare bones at the time; players couldn't even fight back against the few monsters that were implemented...). Oh well.
Posted By: Crimthan Re: The NEXT game for KGB? - 05/26/07 02:57 AM
I played it as Mourning, and everything was so bare bones I couldn't stick with it. However, The concept is AWESOME - I love the idea of a dynasty - if this ever takes root and becomes something, it would definitely be a game I'd like to play.
Posted By: Raekwon Re: The NEXT game for KGB? - 05/26/07 08:57 AM
The child idea sounds cool but after a few months i think it'd just be another level tredmill. So instead of saying you get one char and you have a soft level cap, they're saying you have multiple kids each with a hard cap but since your kid can be better that hard cap becomes just like a soft one.

One real benefit would be, you can probably name the kid whatever and make him look however. So all those dumb choices you made with your first char can be undone. So its that or the Devs can simply just allow you to untrain skills and buy hair dye.... (UO had it right the first time, copy and improve)

*** EDIT ***
More i think about the kid idea is better than just a normal soft cap but I had a natural urge to agrue against it so feel free to agrue back.

Ashen Temper posted this on the Stray Bullet Forums:

Quote:

We have yet to announce the working title for the MMO we recently announced, so we will be calling this forum "Future Fantasy" until we have released it.

As stated in the announcement, we are still early in the proof of concept prototype stage so details will be few and far in between for the short term. I will go ahead and say that this game will not be set in a post apocalyptic setting or SciFi.

We understand it is difficult it is hard to grasp the time and setting from a few images. We have been using the term "future fantasy" to describe a world that is having a renaissance and we are positive it will become clearer to you as we release more information and concept art.

Raek i am not lookin for a daoc upgrade. Warhammer won't really be that and in the past yrs DAOC is actually a pretty awesome game they have came a long way.

AoC looks ok I just don't really like humans and haven't really looked too far into the game. I still have fun in vanguard when I get time to play it reminds me of daoc early days on how horrible it is to level lol

In character creation, just pick an acqualonian since they are more "Int/Dex" based and mold/adjust your ears so they're pointed and you're all set.
