T-Mobile today initiated the starting volleys for a hostile take over of Sprint in order to rival AT & T's customer base. Sprint service is actually decent now since they worked out the Nextel legacy issues. T-Mobile sucks donkey dick!! That's why I switched from them in the first god damn place.

AT & T though makes T-Mobile look like GE during the war years.

What's your take on Verizon? I've been using Sprint since 2002, and my wife wants to get a family plan with both of us on it. She is leaning toward verizon because both of our families primarily use Altel which was bought out by Verizon.

I've not had too many problems with Sprint, and paying the bills online are easy with them. Anyone have a point by point comparison of Sprint & Verizon?

Yes Crim. I travel extensively for work, and have had service with all 3 of the majors, AT&T, Verizon and Sprint. Verizon's service and coverage by far outstrips both of the others, with Sprint coming in a nice second and AT&T a very distant third.

Having said that, this of course is based on a few things and assumptions; a) If you are located around a major city, which I know you are, then the comparison becomes much closer and b) If you need service outside the United States, or in low density populous areas.

I travel to a variety of locations from Puerto Rico to Hawaii and from Alaska to Florida. In many cases, AT&T does not even provide service, and Sprint is roaming. Verizon is active everywhere I go, whether it be Ponce Puerto Rico or Dillon Montana. That alone is enough for me, however, when compared with drop call rates, enhanced 3g features and the like, Verizon still comes out on top, even though I would much prefer to have an iPhone or Palm Pre, neither of which is legally available with Verizon. It does appear the new DROID just may be the smart device I have been looking for.

I travel all over the world throughout the year. I have Sprint and a Worldwide edition blackberry. I find that I hardly ever drop when traveling since I am on a modulated service which picks the strongest type signal and switches to it.

The only problem I had was being in satellite shadows in Hong Kong when I was downtown and inside a building.

Verizon is in the process of shrinking their coverage for FIOS and one has to wonder how long they can continue to hemorrhage monies with out having there cellular division start to suffer.

I love Verizon, they have perfect coverage every place that I travel. Only really ever had problems with them when in Arizona. Hell, they even give me service on the cruise ships.

Although I'm currently with AT&T, I must say that Verizon has the best service. I never had a drop call and rarely ever was I roaming.

Ive used AT & T in the past and always had trouble getting a signal where I live and I often travel to very "back woodsy" type places where the entire town is a gas station etc and I wouldnt have service with them the majority of the time if at all. Maybe now and again I would get a signal of 0 bars but not "no service". I signed up with Nextel 6 years ago which has subsequently been absorbed into Sprint and I have no problem with getting signals here at home or in those "back woodsy" places I described above. Nextel and Sprint still technically are different services (internally). I switched my Nextel plan to a Sprint plan briefly about a year ago and very quickly changed it back to a Nextel plan because Every time I turned around I was Roaming and paying outragous fees. Im in Texas btw and usually am not near a "big" city. Ive never used verizon, though I do have many family and friends who use it who don't really have anything positive to say about it.
