Martin is one of my favorites too. I don't see why people think that SB was such an elite game. We had some pretty embarrassing moments as KGB in SB, there were a lot of things that KGB members shouldn't have done, but overall at least in Wrath, wasn't that when Binbs was in charge? I know he had stuff going pretty well, and even Holrom had it going, but ya there were times in SB that KGB was a zerg, but i think that was the same for any guild, especially when all the asians started to play. I remember talking to a few people who were playing and said it was just a zerg game in general.

it is only a zerg when you outnumber them greatly... which only happened when the other nation decided they didnt want to defend the city cos they are cockfags, but hey people talk shit all the time who gives a fuck and quit wasting time on nobodies who are just pissed because they havent been active and 9/10 of their membership has left them for other things

The whole stigma attached to being competative numbers wise, never made sense to be honest. Especially in mid-sb, where there was so much nutcupping and alliances, being a larger guild was almost a requirement rather than a choice.

The WB promo sounds almost word-for-word the same crap I heard from Crime Syndicate and Widowmakers when I joined them mid-sb; "We want to be a small guild of elite players, and grief everyone," when in reality it's just a guise they have because all they really want is to cling to their false sense of eliteism, not that i'm saying WB is like this, cause I don't know them, but others like them were.

Shadowbane, at least to me, really did separate the men from the boys; but the so-called "skills" associated with the game were just templates and focus fire.

I like how, when people talk about their revisionist Shadowbane history, they tend to forget that Shadowbane had the most clunkist character and gear system in the history of MMORPGS. Sure, I was able to get it, but I would bet that during its heyday, the majority of the community didn't fully understand the basics of character building, template building and how to get proper equipment. And these guilds won because they understood that and others didn't.

Other then UO(the game everyone seems to think god shit out for the pvp world, which I never played but am sure was great game) Shadowbane for me is the best pvp game out now. No other game i have played has skill involved(yes it did) city burning making people quit pvp.

And WB is was and always will be bitches.

While I agree a "internet argument" can never be resolved, and that people shouldn't act irresponsible when responding, a professional rational response imho isn't over reacting too much. You make it sound as if people are yelling and running around as if thier hair was on fire, simply not true all the time.

As far as Agelmar goes wasn't he some second or third tier lacky?

and showing screenshots of you being dead and numerically superior opposition doesn't nesessarily mean that guild is a zerg guild, it means your guild may not be as skilled as you think, and the perspective you have from the ground can color the truth.

Why give any enemy the time of day, unless you're tracking their tactics or motives? On gaming forums, neither are usually displayed, so we're just wasting our time.

Yes, and he was a Johny-come-lately. Yet another reason not to give a potential enemy the time of day.

Guilds like the Winterblades are so entrenched in their idea of how a "real" guild should act like, they sometimes lose the fact that not everyone plays the game for the same reasons, and that victory, especially when with allies, is relative to the situtation.

However, that's not to say that this is totally pointless. WB is the type of guild that will dissuade the johnny-come-lately guild from attacking them by displaying an "elite" persona on the forums, because of the fear factor that they associate with their guild,

i.e. "If you grief us, we have no compunction to just mindlessly suicide attacking your guild. Even if we lose our city, we don't care, because we are crazy."

And hey, as much as I hate to admit it, their PR serves their purpose. Their members still think their the best, and apparently they've never lost a battle cause they can spin. Sure, it's all half-truths and elaborating, but their play style is solely to grief and nothing else, so it does fit their profile.

We were very skilled. Just ask anyone that played at that time.
