I am really considering getting the front Living quarters but it probably serves no purpose.

You can't blame them. No matter how obscene the digital offering of pixels for cash, the community of SC continues to eat it up and fork over cash without much hesitation. It also doesn't hurt that the white knight's are so numerous and strong over there that you can't fart loudly without being called out.

Very true. I looked at those modules, but I see no real reason to spend money to change my room design of a ship. Especially since I have no idea what I'm using the damn thing for. Though the drop ship room for troops was kinda cool.

Yeah it looks like that is an attempt to monetize the hype for the FPS and Boarding aspect of the title currently in works. The problem I have with this sales campaign, as you have stated, is that A) I don't know what I am going to focus on with a hull type and B) I can purchase these mods in game after live launch of the PU.

We had a talk about this the other night in TS... about the dropship module. Really what is stopping someone from loading up 20 people in a smaller ship? Do you really need the module to move more people? Unless I've missed a mechanic somewhere I've never read anything about limiting how many people can get on board, even though ships have a crew #.

The dropship module mentions like an ammo rack, weapons, recharge station, etc. but I think if you have your rag tag team drop ship team your team members are going to have their own setup of weapons they prefer anyway, so what benefit does that weapon rack really bring. You could just bring some ammo cargo on your smaller ship.

Just some speculation ;) correct me if they have mentioned something about max number of people that can board a ship.
on RTV someone asked about stuffing a ship full of players and was told that this would overload the life support

they also appear to have turned against voice attack seeing it as a macro program flying your ship for you this is a real swap on what they have said before

they did say that they liked the idea of vocal commands for your wingman just not for your ship

That's unfortunate. I own Elite:Dangerous and one of the highlights of that game is using VoiceAttack for numerous commands. I went full-nerd and incorporated sounds from Star Trek for various commands as well that really help sell the immersive nature of the game. I've got my red alert klaxons, various energy charging sounds for engaging weapons and computer bloops and bleeps for engaging/disengaging landing gear, going to warp or contacting stations for docking permission.

Hopefully they change their tune back to supporting voice commands. With all of the other futuristic tech being used in the game, how is it they haven't developed voice command technology in the SC universe?

CIG can't stop the user side macro's so it really doesn't matter what there stance is. I get it though from there stand point. Its a definite combat advantage to have a robust VC as it reduces tact time to effect a command. When you are in the pew-pew, MS count and is the difference between being in a bad spot or a good spot for ACM, which equates to shot's on target.

They probably made the decision predicated on a bunch of back room trash talk by the purist white knights in the Sub Den who want you to go through the physical skulduggery of unloading your cargo, because I need a Longshoreman Simulator in my space pew pew title.

I actually support the unloading of cargo.

I don't want it to be something that takes forever but I certainly don't want it to be something that happens instantly.

Perhaps being able to hire someone to unload your cargo could be an option at spaceports.

If this game is just a space pew pew title then it will be mighty disappointing to many people myself included.

if this game is just a space pew pew title I likely won't play it. at least not for long. There needs to be more substance than Call of Duty in space.

same here why go to the trouble of having real cargo in the ship just for it to go virtual as soon as you land

you sell an item on your mobi glass and a man pops out of a door in your hanger on a fork lift and takes the item away could be done in less than 30 sec's after all forklift drivers are faster than F1 drivers

That isn't what the unwashed masses in the Sub Den were asking for. They want you to spend a significant time sink, think almost mini game, without the game to unload your cargo and move it physically yourself.

Don't insinuate that I don't want depth and breadth in this title. If it was just a rail shooter in space for $70M, they are doing a ton of Coke and spending a lot of money on anything but the game. I don't want a "life simulator" though either when the core of the game is space jockey immersion, exploration, combat, spacial politics and economics.

Wait, maybe that is a "life simulator" for some of us on the daily corporate grind?

I think they could limit the player restriction on a ship quite simply by not allowing jump/takeoff without folks sitting in a "designated" seat. While in flight - folks could move around, but w/o butts in seats - wouldn't be able to get very far.

And yup... I picked one up. I was going to get the Retaliator originally when it came out, but opted for the Orion instead at the time. I need to be able to buy missiles for my other ships right?

I picked up all the modules accept the Torpedo Modules - as they were not LTI, figured I would just buy them in-game instead.

So now my hanger looks like:
----------------------------
Aegis Avenger
Aegis Vanguard
Anvil F7C-M Super Hornet (+ Skin for Veterans only)
Anvil Gladiator Bomber
Aegis Retaliator (+ modules)
Banu Merchantman
Misc Freelancer
2x Reliant
RSI Orion
