or maybe next week but with luck Thursday this week

"There's going to be a good deal of internal testing on FPS and AC this week, but we don't know if that'll lead to a public PTU release or not. Once our internal playtests are done mid-week, we'll have a better idea." Ben CIG

Travis "So as we go ahead and roll forward, the plan, which I wanted to share with you guys, is for those of you who were around during the Arena Commander launch, around this time last year, we’re going to do it very similarly. We’re going to set it up on the PTU, with a build, and we’re going to do a phased rollout based on your citizen number. We’re going to invite a fixed number of citizen numbers, have those people have access to this new PTU, they’ll be able to go in there, try out FPS, give us feedback, and we’re going to attempt to patch biweekly, so twice a week we’re going to patch this PTU, so if you have data capped internet, maybe it’s not for you, just a warning cause we’re going to be patching very frequently. And as we get stability up and get good feedback up then we’re going to iterate on that, and we’re going to open it up to more and more people and then as we get more and more feedback we’ll open it up to more and more people, and as we do this phased rollout eventually we’ll culminate with going live to everybody. That way, by the time the whole community gets it in their hands, it’ll have been progressively, based on your seniority here, basically, and by the time it comes out live we should have a nice, stable product for everybody to enjoy together."

and found this
"We released two patches this month, Patch 1.1.2 and 1.1.3, and neither were on a Friday! Our team will continue to work with the company to attempt to corral these deployments to Tuesdays as industry standard"

so FPS TUESDAY!!!!!!

Better they hold it back and get it to an acceptable Alpha module level before letting the sycophants get their hands on it.

CIG is continuing its trend of out source elements to start the work and then bring in house to finish implementation. I would imagine that based on how the FPS module has gone, that what they received from Ill-fonic didn't meet CR expectations and wasn't optimized to minimum levels to meet the demand requirements and not be a laggy piece of shit. Word was in the back room that because the netcode is one of a kind for SC that the module they received shit the bet when integrated with the core client. You basically had all the worst realized issues, lag, latency, clipping, tearing, hit detection, ect. ect., that just kill FPS titles. It wasn't how the module "looked" or the functionality they provided, it was almost entirely core mechanics, phys-x and client/net code conflict.

At least CIG has the cash on hand to absorb the increased demand in bandwidth and the need for additional resources. That has always been their saving grace once they hit about 45-50M in actual funding.

I thought I could see 1 week into the future turns out I am better than that I can see 5 months into the future

The FPS module has been, is and will continue to be all jacked up because CIG doesn't know how to make a first person shooter and the out sourcing they did returned even worse value than doing it themselves.

How has the FPS been Instrument? Decent for the massive delays it had?
Posted By: Instrument Re: FPS this week - 11/30/15 12:52 PM
I have never stayed connected long enough to find out

best progress so far is
getting out of bed
selecting ship from terminal
going to landing pad
entering ship
taking off
cruise speed away from station
quantum drive communication array
hail form the UE police
fighting 2 pirate 1 aurora 1 325
defeating pirates
congrats hail from UE and request to repair array
position ship close to array
open canopy of ship

at each of the above points I have crashed never got to the array so far and after the last patch i am having issues selecting a ship

last time i logged in i stowed away on a Connie had a great time
in the turret really liked the way it looked but it crashed before we entered quantum drive so no actual combat experience in the turret

will drag myself away from Albion and give it a few more goes
but it crashes ALOT!
still looks and feels beautiful

Yup same here - I know they are working on it a LOT so giving it a shot every other day or so.

So far haven't been able to do much - but once I can get in and do some things will definitely be writing up any issues I find so they can get them worked out. :-)

Getting VERY excited!
