I have about 11 ships in Star Citizen. I have not found the Idris and missed the Jump ship by a day. Waiting for the Hornet F7A, military model to be available. I do have all the civilian Hornets, the 300 series ships, all the Constellations except the merchant, a Redeemer, Retaliator, and an Orion. Thinking of avoiding the Hull series that are supposed to be available this weekend. Waiting to get the Idris-M and Javellin and a couple of the others due to come out.
My hangars are full, cannot fit all the ships in them, but I do swap them out. Have not gone into Arena Commander, just have been in my hangar.
how can you have that number of ships and not have signed up to the org yet?
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/orgs/KGB/membersI would not expect Hornet F7A to ever be available before launch
and only then with high UEE standings.
would also not expect the Idris-M and Javellin to go on sale again but as we already have 2 Idris-P and 1 Javellin in KGB
http://oracle.the-kgb.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=128136#Post128136we are going to have crew issues anyway without padding it out with NPC's before we start thinking about escorts
Welcome to star citizen
Actually I recounted my ship list in hangar and it is 21 ships. It is like Pokemon, have to collect them all. The Hull series though is debatable...although that Hull E would look nice with the Orion. They share a similar design.
Originally, the idea from CR was that the "HangAr" would be modular and continue to expand every time you added a ship to that location. Apparently at some point during the Alpha cycle, they instituted a hard cap on the expansion of bays in your hangar for some data corruption issue it was causing when the client was trying to load assets beyond an X value.
the new plan is any ships over the hangar limit will be stored out of sight in remote storage but you will be able to get them delivered to your hangar by requesting them on the mobi glass
the idea is based on the automatic car garages
That should prove interesting with the bigger ships.
After a while I started optimizing my hangar because of the amount of memory the hangar was taking to load all the assets. Too many ships bogged it down. I am still looking out for my next set of ships to get.
We tried to tell them that when the first launched the HangAr client. That the high detail assets with more than 3 or 4 bays was blowing up video cards. They should really just have a single bay as large as your largest ship stored there and have instituted the pocket garage concept. What stopped them from doing it early was apparently an internal debate about immersion erosion and "fantasy physics". In the end it looks like client optimization won the day, for a change.
I think its also fair to say that for along time the Hangar was CIG advertising.
They wanted/needed all those youtube videos of peoples hangars full of ships to sell SC
now they have Arena commander to do the selling and the 5 starter ships has grown to aprox 27 not including versions
and I think it has surprised them how many backers/fanboys/idiots have them all so there is a need to change the design
Yes some of the people that own all the ships are idiots. There have been several posts about people blowing all of the there savings / maxing credit cards on these ships because its an addiction. If you can afford it and it makes you happy thats great but some people are addicted and so excited that they spend more then they can afford.
This just in: People are dumb.

Many wear their pants on there heads.
Larry makes me feel better about my hanger
Ah, usually I just go for the models I like but I found it cheaper to go for one of the ship packs, so I ended up with a few more than I wanted. I have canon fodder now.
Larry makes me feel better about my hanger
is that still true after you picked up the Hull E?
the way I look at it is
A: There will be a Org hangar so ships can be shared
B: Insured ships will take time to be replaced
C: Money spent is money gone
For the record I have not given into the urge to get a Hull E, I am still working on Shroud of the Avatar pledges and refuse to over extend finances for a merchant ship...maybe a carrier or something with nice wood trim...
Sigh, I wanted a Javelin but missed the sale when it was available. I keep an eye out though. If I get a Hull it would probably be an E but still on the fence about those. I figured my Reclaimer would have room for some cargo.

Daniel is my shining star on the horizon of the win train.
Frankly, I just remembered why I have the fleet pack I have, its because I had my eyes set on a Super Hornet and it was only available as part of the pack. So I did gauge the cost and affordability before getting it. I expect when I decide to upgrade again to a pack with ships I cannot get separately I will sell off what I have now and just upgrade to what I want. Although when I did upgrade to this pack I gave away my Ghost to a friend who had no ships at all and was on a really tight budget. I expect the pack I will have to upgrade to to get my next goal of a ship will require selling off my various constellations, since those are included in the pack.
Yes, I gave in and my fleet has increased by 5, guess I will be space trucking part time. None of the fleet packages offer all the ships so this one will probably stay with me and not be sold off for an upgrade.
Hmmm, maybe I can be truck rental company and rent some of these to people.
I am still working on the 2 wingman idea no idea where I got the number from but that's what is in my head
a BMM escorted by a Hull E and a stsrfarer
I wanted to see what kind of speed a Hull E could get once in collapsed form and with full engines, the interviews say it will never be a speed demon but it is hard to imagine no speed at all with those sized engines. I was thinking I could open a Star Citizen version of Avis Rent-A-Ship with my fleet.
What kind of hardpoints are on that?
I just saw the new ship...sigh. I am debating if I can afford it within the time frame of the sale. It is up until July 6th.
I thought it was their best bit of marketing lots of info and an interesting game mechanic.
But its all at the wrong time until the FPS/Network issues are solved faith in the Christ Roberts is at a all time low
Because the hype train has mitigated about as much of the questions from the peanut gallery as it can. Now that the rubber is hitting the road and stretch goals are being incorperated with a physical product to test and evaluate, the mood and conversation pendulum is now shifting away from the Hype-White Knight side of the spectrum.
I think it's good that CIG be faced with hard questions based of factual data and real testing and be held accountable for there actions/in-actions and how they manage the implementation of projects/modules and how that effects the timeline and end product to consumers who are HIGHLY invested in this title.
this weeks FPS update
odd no mention of the netcode
but it does list things fixed and things to fix
with a short film of asset destruction and a selection of sight options
there also appears to be a fairly active dev response to comments made about the update below
