The only thing I took away from that video is how much more work they have to do and I hope the focus goes back to working on flight mechanics and space combat mechanics as was promised.

I think they became to enamored with there own Hype Train and shiney things to show but none of that matters if your game mechanics, hit detection, latency, net code and flight mechanics are total shit.

Yes the video was rich, dense and shiney. Yes the assets in-game looked very polished. The problem is none of that matters when you sold the best SPACE FIGHTER SIM since the dawn of fire.

Have you been listening to Tas for the last decade? This is tame.

Tas is here to keep us all grounded :)

1.1.1 or 1.1a are so close the devs are even posting patch notes
bad news is that the dev was a bit early and had to pull it

"From Will Leverett:

Good morning all,

We’ve pushed a test build of 1.1.1 to the Public Test Universe this morning.

We'll have further patch notes later this week, but headliners are:
•Gladiator is Flight Ready!
•Gunner Seat Functionality for both the Gladiator and the Super Hornet
•Sledge II game balancing
•REC adjustments
•Various bug fixes, including for the first of many client optimizations, assorted fixes for client crashes, and updates to improve multiplayer stability (though we still have some outstanding items to work on)

As soon as we feel 1.1.1 on PTU is stable, we’ll be pushing it out 1.1.1 to the Live Service (as early as tomorrow, but we’ll notify you here with further updates).

Instructions for Public Test Universe:
•Log on to https://robertsspaceindustries.com with your normal credentials.
•Click My RSI on the top right, then My Account, then Public Test Universe (in yellow) or go to https://robertsspaceindustries.com/account/ptu.
•Click “Copy account to PTU” to start the account copy process over from the Live Service to the PTU Service. This process may take several minutes to complete.
•Once done, you’ll receive an email with your PTU password and additional instructions for how to access the service.

Update: Will has just edited his post. He got ahead of himself. He didn't mean to put it up this morning. He just changed the post to this:

Hi all,

Apologies for the early post. PTU will be up sometime this week.

Thanks - WL"

so the important bit
•Gunner Seat Functionality for both the Gladiator and the Super Hornet

So Tas want to be my gunner? I can fly and worry about the FM you just get to kill things:)

not sure we want Tas to be the gunner tho

•A Super Hornet F7C-M's co-pilot is able to shoot and kill the pilot from the co-pilot/turret seat

Nope. All full on hookers and blow on this end. Thanks for asking.

I sold my ticket for the Hype Train Express. The crop of terrible titles over the last decade warrant taking off the rose colored glasses of half full potential. The reason is the majority of games have switched to a pre-funding model and turned consumers into investors. Yes, I have continued to try and verbally hold developers to promises made to garner investment.

It's only a matter of time until a significantly pre-funded title tanks so hard there is a class action lawsuit. Remember that soliciting investment or selling goods over the internet crosses the interstate commerce codes and god forbid the use the US Mail system and open that can of worms. That being said, I did acknowledge that what they are producing as in game assets are polished, the world is lush and dense, and the game is full of shiny objects deArt. The problem the title is having is on the core game mechanics end because space flight and six degrees of freedom is an extremely difficult task to fully integrate into a fully functioning space sim that resets the standard for PC Space Fighters, as promised to garner investment.

MWO is a very good example of cashing in on a genre and IP, with a decent looking game but the worst core game mechanics for the most important aspects of anything with shooting in it. Hit detection, latency, collision detection, ballistics and trajectory algorithms, net code and weapon balancing. I don't think SC is anywhere near the debacle MWO was and at least CIG deconstructed the CryEngine that is a root cause of the aforementioned core game mechanics and understood they needed to reinvent the wheel to have any chance of a solid Flight/Space Combat core mechanic suite.

I have my own SuperHornet mit military fuselage thank you very much. You should be more concerned with my "bad guy" alternate account(s) and the terribad farming that will ensue. At least the gray market paid off the investment nut for the multiple accounts and bought a couple KGB there initial ship packages for Alpha/Beta access.

Anyone ever wonder if Tas likes anything?
Posted By: Ictinike Re: 2.0 is here - 04/09/15 07:03 PM
Yeah I remember back then MWO and playing with you guys.. It's a shame it's come to that though I've not looked into it since early beta days.

Was fun back then but had it's issues.. Just sorry it hasn't gotten better it seems..

I like all kinds of things.

I don't like bullshit, consumer gaming, bait and switch and the nature of over promising on elements a Company never plans to deliver on when soliciting funds from consumers on a product that does not yet exist.
