Just heads up.. I sent our KGB propaganda video to TRay who is the senior art director for SOE and PS2 smile

Been watching on Twitter and added he and Higby and he struck up a convo so thought wtf and sent it to him.. Maybe some props or at least some good in good sauce? Hoping!
Both those guys are twatter whores, so yeah. T-Ray is a no good Barney, while Higby is Blue and Gold until he defects to red and black scum.

But yeah, might as well.
Hopefully I can get some time starting tomorrow to get into vent with ya guys (tho Drak is out of scope) and we can chat some more ideas for new video, image, social media blitz smile
I want to open this up and invite any and all KGB members who have a active interest in playing planetside 2 to post here with suggestions. If you got a pretty sweet idea that we can do for a video, say a specific theme, or use for the video, maybe some old planetside screen shots, or even newer images you happen to like, or some music you like post it all here all ideas are welcome and if your idea makes it into the next "Boy in a Bag" production I'll set you up on a date with Wolfgang.
Some of the video of PS2 from the podcast would be cool ...

If you haven't - watch Goons recruiting videos for inspiration, they are some of the best ever created.

As to my idea - Guide for Dummies: How to parallel park a tank.

I approve of this as long as it involves forceful removal of the tank in front of and/or behind you.

Goon lover, I'll not have any such talk here.

You don't have to love someone to appreciate it when they do good work.
Rap Metal Instrumentals has been common for me to listen to lately

I actually dislike goons, they are griefers, but they do superb job with their media and recruitment.
I have no comment as to the GSS and Section 50.

except this.

and this.

At least early DFO was on tilt.
Look into streaming in the future.
Being on goon's nutts sounds like an epic fail idea to me.

So people, lets get this straight.

Understanding your enemies strengths and learning what they do better than you can only strengthen your side. Goons do propaganda well. Lets learn from the things they do well and not emulate what we hate about them.

The United States space program got a huge boost from the captured Nazi rocket technology / scientists. That's how you win.
I know KGB, and I definitely know the enemies we face and how they play, thus winning is the only option available....

....I am the Sword
Winning is the only option and to do it to the max we have to get in early, hit hard, hit often and hit harder again and get people to tag up.

Recruit recruit recruit!!!

Recruit recruit recruit!!!

The highest mission priority on my list
Good point but lets learn strategies from the right enemies... goons never played planetside , and it's hard to make solo griefer videos in planetside:) The planetside player base wants to see teamwork etc.
Recruiting -Begins when Official site forums goes live.

Beta Recon Team

Leadership Assembly

Core Assembly/Promotions

Communication

Team Cohesion/Fundimentals

Character Advancement/Specialties

Propaganda/Psyops

Tactics/Stratagems

Combined Arms Operations

Territorial Control and Social Engineering

That's my to-do list thus far, in order of importance. I add things as I see them.

Stripper pole
Coca field
Mega keg

Goon's operation in EVE is extremely team-oriented, if we can badly replicate what they do there we would be set for our recruiting. Someone more familiar with EVE probably could tell you more how they operate, but looking from the outside it:

1. They recruit with well-made humorous videos, something that is interesting to watch even for someone not familiar with specific game they are recruiting for. Way I see it, if you can go viral with your recruiting video because it is funny on and not try to be all "serious business" with unremarkable in-game footage you will be remembered. Your pool of potential recruits is also becomes much wider, because you can appeal to completely new players.

2. Goons spend extraordinary effort working with new players. They put more priority into getting new recruits involved right away than anything else. As a result they have TONS and TONS people. I think we need to do the same, getting someone tagged shouldn't be where our recruiting effort stops.

3. Goons have highly distributed chain of command, they have a lot of autonomous squads with their own goals, culture and specifics all operating under big umbrella of GOON. Somehow these all cooperate without losing autonomy.

/agree
The thing that folks don't like about the GOONS is that many of them are asshats. Well, when you get that large a group of people together there are going to be some bad apples. If we model their recruiting techniques though, that gives us a much larger pool to selectively choose from to get the kind of folks we have and want more of. Remember, just because someone applies doesn't mean they should automatically get in (which is kind of how the GOON squad works).
Actually the big umbrella is "Something Awful" or SA. The "GOON" moniker is just the gaming element of Something Awful. I say this because I have been a member of SA for probably going on almost 10 years now. I have been a GOON, I have played with GOONS, and I have played directly opposing GOONS.

It all depends on who is or who is not running the show when talking about GOON factions. As well, people pay to be members of SA and the services they provide, one of which is the gaming element of the GOONS. What has caused a degradation of the GOON tag is the influx of 4Chan and the like.

I can tell you this, there will be a strong GOON presence in early PS2, for good, bad, or otherwise.
Wow I didn't realize they played more games then DFO. First Time hearing about them was there. I hope they play tr or vs:)

This is all around bad news for the game. Are there different servers for PS2? If there are we need to find out what server GOONS plan to play and avoid it like plague. If there is only one global server then we need to make sure not to belong to the same faction. Goons specialize in abusing game systems to grief other players, they are getting their kicks from frustrating people, not competing or achieving in-game goals. They also tend to ignore politics, you are ether GOON or a target.
The Goons gaming element is based on electing leaders who have a popular super star status from within SA, these leaders don't always follow the script as written by the powers that be either. Case in point, the fallout that Glut had in his faction, and the break up of some of his leadership elements leaving the squad in DFO. I am sure Jet knows more about this then I do, however I will say this, I have never been afraid of any Goon element. I know what they did in EvE and I am sure if I asked Rahl would tell me all he knows about them but the truth is they do not worry me, they do not scare me, and we will not be running from them. If we meet them on server fine, if not then I will make it my mission to find someone I can pick a fight with. The way I see it anyways is that if they were on a opposing Faction and they were on our chosen server then our recruiting would go on the rise due to their presence as no one would want to pay to game with them so it's in our favor no matter how you look at it.
/hands Drakiis bitch stick

Go get'em Tiger.

I am more concerned about ending in the same faction as them and get block-griefed or something equally retarded where you can't really do anything to fight back.
One of the things changing from PS1 to PS2 is the use of "beachheads" on each continent for each faction in order to do several things. One of those is to reduce game time to action by moving the front lines closer to the action. The other effect of this is not being able to wake up, log in, and find your faction Sanctuary Locked and unable to leave the carebear dome.

I don't personally agree with this in total, but as of right now that is where Higby and Smed's are taking this game mechanic.
Be cool if they keep beachheads just like a tower, no vehicle option. So it's faster to break into a continent but also more dangerous without vehicles

No one knows for sure what exactly "Beach Heads" means, and Higby has been very quit about his topic, even when asked repeatedly. It could just be a "Bacta" tank for reviving and the ability to spawn yourself as individual w/ no vehicles, or it could be the other end of the spectrum and be a full blow micro base able to spawn everything.

No one knows for sure yet.

My anti-politics stance ensures that we will be in their way just as much as they will be in ours. Just like the saying goes, I am the immovable object to their irresistible force.
I approve of the anti-politics stance.

I'm going to PS2 to kick ass and chew bubblegum. Pretty sure I'll be out of gum by the time it releases.
Destroy on Contact...

Get use to it.
There really isn't politics ..Just recruiting ..because its team based and there are no mobs to compete for unless you count those dirty commies or barnie lovers. So as tas says destroy on contact and as drakis says I'm the sword and I say play to crusher.

i browse SA occasionally. im sure most of you already know what this is already but for those that dont it could be educational. it's a good example of goon propaganda.
