I bet If Romney or anyone that isn't liberal/democrat had mentioned something like that with religion, it would be a different story. Since Obama mentioned it all is forgotten and well. To bad our deficit isn't seeing a reduction in all this "good" that Obama has done.
There is no denying that specific public appearance you linked to panders to evangelicals. I don't like that Obama felt couple votes were worth wading into that particular swamp. Still fine difference is that right says "we do X (opposition to abortion, gay marriage, so on) because the bible says so" and Obama says "look, what I am trying to do here does not contradict the good book".
