I am sad to say that Robert Jordan lost his fight with cancer
He put up an amazing fight and I am in shock and tears of such a tragic loss to the fantasy world of books.
For those that don't know he was the author of the Wheel of Time series and my heart is broke tonight

thanks for the post elph. what a pain, the last book was so good too... I wonder if anyone will take over and finish the series from his notes or something.

His wife and his brother were told all that needed to be told to finish the memory of light.
He had mentioned times on his blog that they would finish where he left off if he didn't make it. And the post before his passing, he had sat down and told his wife and his brother everything on how he wanted it to go.

nice !
5 years ago I almost started this series, then looked at his age and health issues and decided to wait, I would hate to start a series that never gets finished....or worse yet goes the path of the Dune novels and gets hacked in the end by some slob of a writer - aka family.

It sucks that he is dead, but that will probably actually push up the day that his last novel gets written. Which will be nice.

Elph I await your decision as to if the last novel, when it comes out, is worth starting the series. I am saddened by the loss of any good writer.

Live well, for we know not when we die!

Even without the book it's worth it. His wife has assisted him in the novels before and he has majority of it written already i think he only had to tell them 3 hrs of work that was left to do. Book is due to go to publisher in 2008 and in 2009 should release. Book 4 and 5 are a bit boring but the books before and after are really awesome. It's sad with him gone, i am actually writing a blog about it in between time with the kids. It's def worth the read. I think that Wilson and his wife harriet will do him good. Tolkein's son recently published and released the Children of hurin based off his dad's notes it was excellent!
