I'm looking to see if anyone has interest in a weekly p&p old school D&D via vent. I would like to do AD&D because its what I'm familiar with but I'm open to suggestions. If you're interested let me know. If we can get enough people together I'll get it together and work out details.

http://www.d20pro.com/index.php

I'm thinking I'm going to go buy this software.. I've downloaded it and started playing with it and it's a full Virtual Tabletop that has near complete customization.

I wouldn't mind playing on this and if it suits a "group" of people here in KGB who would be dedicated to playing a night or two out of the week, I would purchase the licenses so I (or someone else GM'ing) could host a game of 2-6 players.

Right now a GM+2 accounts is 30$ with a 10$ fee per player license to hook to the host but if those who were interested would pay the fee themselves they can connect to ANY d20Pro game that's ever out there or hosted.

Let me play around a bit and see what can be done with this sucker and maybe put the new AD&D RedBox adventures in my boys and I started to play PnP over the last months. They are short and 4e but if I can get those in there, we could test drive something some night smile

My advice as i gave to tracy os make sure its something the entire grp wants before you look at any sub services as sometimes less is more for pnp gaming online and you might be able to get by without it as sub services can create a uneeded expense, thats the beauty of pnp games you dont need the peripherals so dont fall prey to the mass market side of the hobby they are always trying to make pnp gamers feel they need a crutch the books alone are financial burden enough

I play the deathwatch, dark heresy, 40k role playing systems here, but will be getting rogue trader and dark crusade when i can as well, these % based mechanics are easier to learn and the sci fi elements very compelling full of mystery and intrigue each setting uses the same mechanics and can stand on its own or you can combine all the books source information together to flesh out a fully detailed super setting which is my ultimate goal for a 40k universe campaign i am not trying to convince anyone to spend money on these products i just find their quality and material engaging and i absolutely love the wealth of information they contain

Oh Drakiis I completely agree with your "crutch" assessment..

I've got now the luxury of having those core books in eReader format on my tablet so I don't need to shall out the $, though I would if it really took off, for those books.

Still something about hardcover books that do it for this guy but I've slowly become the eReader nut having all kinds now and enjoying them in bed with the lights out (lol).

I'm up early, going to do some scan's of "The Twisting Halls" maps from this new D&D Redbox and try to put together the entire campaign (5-7 instances) in this D20Pro.

Yea I'm working on learning it so I can run a small campaign and we could try it out.. it's a bit different for the new 4E stuff, since it was a 3.5 system originally, but they have work around's how to do the new stuff.

It's pretty cool how you can host all of this and I've been scanning in battlemaps from the boxed set and setting up the monsters, campaigns, etc.. Not toooo shabby but of course with any tool I'll have to learn it and we can show others how to use the client and play.

Sometime soon I'll get on vent St and we can try a connection and a small you vs. me (judge/dm) and see how it goes smile

I think this is funny how you boys keep going back and forth on who is gming, almost like a race
Posted By: Arkh Re: Pen and Paper D&D - 03/20/11 04:29 PM
You're making want to play with you.
What kind of day/hour are we looking at ?
Posted By: StValentine Re: Pen and Paper D&D - 03/20/11 05:06 PM
I don't know why we cant switch up from time to time maybe I do one campaign and he does another that gives us both a chance to play cause most dm's do miss the chance to play
Posted By: Ictinike Re: Pen and Paper D&D - 03/20/11 07:33 PM
Its no race to m more Than learning something new tha could get me playing again.. GMing for me isn't bad honestly being able to build this apps content is more fun for me.. If we canget one or twowhocan work this system and wants to purchase the gm portion of the app I have no problem NOT GMING. laugh

Every day is a push to the finish line, i just got off the phone with valentine, been talking shop with him if you want i can send ya my digits too or you me, but essentially i just bs with him and we have a good time just chatting about whatever, i know you are a busy man so its not that important, as far as a game vent or live goes i have been working on a super campaign but as of yet lack a live grp or the capability for a online one but hopefully that will change one day soon

Found, yet another, Virtual Table software that is better even yet.. LOL..

I WILL be purchasing one of these eventually but the new is called Fantasy Grounds II .. check it out @ https://www.fantasygrounds.com/home

3 levels of purchase but if I can swing the Ultimate edition then I believe it states I can host any number of games with licensed or unlicensed players. Not sure what that means at this time and I have an email out to the company but I'm hoping it means I could allow anyone who's either purchased a playing license or unregistered version will *still* be able to play. I'll report back.

Sorry all, this shit gets me excited, LMAO.. laugh
