Given my experience with firearms in the USMC, the evidence is irrefutable. I can see how one who has only spent his military time in the AF may be confused, perhaps to even question what a firearm even is.

A buddy of mine said his Air Force Basic class spent a entire day with the weapon. This of course was just the opposite for me when I was in the Army, we spent every day with ours.
