I've stopped in this city many times travelling from Oklahoma to my hometown in Missouri. One picture of a cross that's still standing, while the church surrounding it was leveled. Also I'm posting a link to other pictures. A couple of them show bodies covered up FYI.

Holy Fuck..

I've seen the damage from a tornado firsthand and I must say those images are some of the worst carnage I've ever seen with my eyes either personally or images/video.

The photographer really captured the brutal scenes so well they're haunting and I cannot even begin to image the loss of life and property.

I'm awestruck but thanks for sharing. We had 2 confirmed touchdowns this early evening. 20-30 miles or so North and as of yet no real reports; more at dawn I'm sure.

Be safe out there Wolf (and everyone)

I seen those its terrable and bad but still nothing compaired to what happens here and the mirricals ive seen,

MO is lucky in my book after loosing family and friends over the years seeing body parts on my front door and escapeing death in a bathtub

My heart goes out to the ones who has had to deal with that tornados are no joke in MO and AL and any other State that has a natural disaster tornado or earthquake

mother nature is a bitch when she is on the rag and kills plenty of great people

I'm not a religious man but my prayers go out 2 them all

This is what happens when Jesus leaves the country on business for a week.

Hell brakes loose.

I am going to have to take away Beelzebub's privileges for the next 999 days when I get back. I am going to ban him to the 84th level of hell, otherwise known and the "Barry Manolo Suite".

Where were you when the Twister was on the ground? Because they had shutdown I-44 and other major roads around Joplin just after the Tornado hit.

Those pictures are nothing. I have a friend I went to school with that went to Joplin to help clear powerlines. He said pictures takes away the effect of the real scope of damage.

Some of the stories are unbelievable. There was a story that a local meterologist here in OK had a son living in Joplin and was caught in the Tornado. He had said his son seen a piece of wood Impale a person killing them, as he watched. Another story, an 18 yr old was sucked out of his car through the sunroof. And one of the saddest stories I heard today. A 10 month old baby still hasn't been found, the parents are in the hospital in critical condition. That one really tugs at your heart strings.

Also this evening, we've had 80 mpg gusts and a place near the Kansas/OKlahoma line had 100 mph gusts. There was a Tornado that hit a rural area southwest of Oklahoma City that scarred the earth it was so powerful. There was no vegatation on the ground at all, even grass. It leveled homes that it came close to. The picture I posted is of the Tornado.

It breaks my heart to see pictures and here stories from Joplin. I live 3 hours north of Joplin and right now we are getting pretty hit hard by heavy rain and high winds here. They have changed it from an f4 to and f5 tornado. Also they reported that it may have been one huge tornado with little tornado's inside it and that would cause the most damage over a wide area.

One story that adds insult to injury was that yesterday 2 police officers in joplin who was helping look for people inside down houses got struck my lighting. 1 is in serious condition.

This ranks up there with the worst I've ever seen, Geensburg, Ks. The whole town looked like picture 19 there was only 1 building left standing in the whole town it looked a nuke blast zone. I drove through Greensburg about 3 days after it happened and it seems unreal like this sort of thing couldn't really happen but your eyes are telling you differently. Fortunatly unlike Joplin nobody in Greensburg died. Regardless of your religion these people need our thoughts and prayers, and whatever help we can offer. Where do you go for help when everyone you know has lost everything just like you. Normally you have your friends, neighbors, and community to lean on in a time of crisis but, when all that is destroyed where do you turn. It takes a incedible amount of time to recover from such a thing. I drove through Greensburg a year later and there were only a couple of buildings rebuilt. Outside help finanly did come but unfortunatly many people had already left. It is sad very, very sad.

Five minutes behind the system going east to carthage, around joplin and then straight north to kc, sorry cant remeber the hyw numbers, it was all a blur and done at night, i know south bound and west bound were closed or detoured, and north bound was too so they could clear debris but they moved the cones for me just as i got to the detour. The poor semi truck in front of me had to take the alt route i wont lie to you that the luck of the gimp was with me, because it was

One of the most graphic stories told from the Joplin tornado, a Doctor that was on duty in the ER at the Hospital (St.Johns) that took a dirct hit from the EF5 Tornado.

I read that Wolf... heart wrenching..

Hard to believe mother nature can be so cruel... but it also helps us realize how lucky and fortunate we are to have soo many willing to step up and help those in need during these trying times in our lives.
