To add to what Helemoto is saying --

You can get food from "outside the system" as well, it just tends to cost more. Though sometimes, it will actually cost less.

In fact, higher quality food has been a growing niche market the past few years. If you do not like the current system, the answer is pretty simple - dont buy from it.

Go to your farmers markets, find one of the independant butchers, ask your grocer to account for where their food comes from.

I know my whole family is very particular, and ( outside of niche ethnic foods ) wont spend a penny on anything not made in the USA or Canada. Locally grown beef and pork from the fresh food stores is definitely a favorite as well.

People just need to speak with their wallet.

Also, learning about food also plays a big part.

Know why your typical grocery sells really shitty tomatoes that have little nutrition or taste? Because they can get them to look really shiny and red and uniform. Why do they care? Because many people are clueless and would rather buy a tasteless, nutritionless tomato that LOOKS really shiny red and uniform, than buy a slightly misshapen-looking tomato that may vary in color but tastes good and is actually good for you.

Repeat x 47000.. or once for every crap item a typical grocer carries.

As cheap as possible, and looks are everything... thats what people seem to want so thats what gets supplied. Again, dont like it - speak with your wallet.

Forced health care, and similar programs take away our rights as individuals to spend our money and plan for our future as we see fit.

The health care system has to get better somehow & it would be wrong to force people to buy healthcare, but what about those who don't buy until they get sick? If 20,000 buy it when they get cancer, it would take a lot of $$ from the system that wasn't paid in before they bought it.

Yeah thats probably why they have problems getting it.

Nothing is perfect, the bottom line is since human beings arent ants, there is no perfect solution. You simply choose to either want to have individual rights, or you choose to give up those rights and let other people make your decisions for you.

Both ways of doing things have their down sides, and some people are always going to get screwed.

The only real solution, is for R&D and market forces to research better ways of preventing and treating illness, and those same market forces to ultimately drive the price of treatment down. That is the only viable long term solution... and its a solution we will likely never see if the gov't continues to assert control over the health care industry.

Lazy.. That's all people are..

They feel endowed and privileged and expect things to be easy and handed to them. Who here knows a ton of lazy fucks that act, think and live this way? Now ask yourself how many the rest can you honestly say work hard, have good moral fiber and do what's right regardless of cost?

Exactly..

You all worry too much, there are always problems and the young always think they have to be solved now! Everyone dies, most times without warning....just enjoy everyday the best you can and always treat other people right....time takes care of everything else.

Oh Ictinike LOL I do. Now we just have to define right :P
