Gamespy did this series of articles in 2003 about a book called "Dungeons and Dreamers." I haven't read the book, but I came across the articles today and found them really interesting.

I was reading the interview with Richard Bartle, the inventer of the first MUD, and the excerpts from the book about the development and launch of Ultima Online. It's really cool stuff. Though I never played the game, it was a lot of fun to read.

Check it out here: http://archive.gamespy.com/dreamers/

The more I think about, I think I'm going to always love online gaming, even when I don't have time for it I'm reminded by how much fun it is having an alter-ego and the social aspects of it. KGB for life!

I don't have the brain power to read books about it but I love mmorpg's too !! It's not that life is so bad that I need to escape it's just that they are so fun, and actually with mmo's I am more social there than in RL, so it is really more of a sport than an escape, with some roleplaying thrown in.

Thanks for the link. Great read. Waiting on his book to get here too.
