Monsanto is aided and abetted by our govt, often at the expense of smaller, less corrupt competitors. New regulations are aimed at preserving Monsantos pride of place, not encouraging market competition.

From your own attempt to suggest that we need more regulation, proof that the regulators are helping make things worse.

While this is correct, the problem is corruption..

I do not know how much regulations has Canada, but it seems that didnt affect for example:
Monsanto tried to bribe candadian regulators about IGF-1 on that country, but unlikely USA that did not pass..

If i understand well what you guys mean by regulations, whitout them so them could sell all sort of hazard products to consumers..

end all subsidies. to everyone, for everything.

this is extremely worrysome. but we are faced with a true dilemma:
do we ban gmo's and severely curtail our food production, and watch as the third world starves?

or do we push ahead with gmo, and face the unintended and unforseeable consequences?

i really dont know, but would prefer to err on the side of sustainability. the loss of honeybees could easily cause worldwide famine all by itself, plus mass extinction of some of our major food crops.

keep in mind that the cause and effect the timeline for gmo food -> colony collapse is less than 25 years.

How about we let consumers choose. You want GMO-free food, you read labels and pay more for it. Just like organic food.

Problem is that Monsanto and the likes are lobbying hard against regulation that would force them to label it.

the problem is cross-pollenization and pollenators like bees. you cant control them. the gmo stuff cant be segregated, so it affects everything around it.

if only the market could fix this...
